A almost a month ago I told y’all all about my new adventure with oil pulling, how it works and why you should consider adding it to your routine. I’ve been “pulling” every morning consistently for 3 months now and I am DEFINITELY seeing a difference! But here’s the thing… putting 2 tablespoons of oil in my mouth every morning was weirding me out! ESPECIALLY with the coconut oil was all cottage-cheese-ish (you know what I mean right?). The texture when I first start was making me gag a little… and it was rough! So I decided to try something… and I created some DIY Oil Pulling Cubes! Life is much easier now 🙂
This oil pulling cube idea started when my health coach mentioned that I could add essential oils to my morning oil pulling oil! I loved that idea… a little peppermint or thieves when I need it would be awesome! But how to juggle tablespoons of coconut oil while trying to add a drop or 2 of essential oil? I’m just not that coordinated!
I decided to try mixing it all up in advance and making my morning oil pulling routine easier! Its remarkably simple to DIY your own oil pulling cubes! All you need is coconut oil, your essential oil of choice and a few things to mix and make them!
OK. So here’s what you need to mix and make your own oil pulling cubes!
Coconut oil
Essential oils
Microwaveable Bowl
Spoon
Ice Cube Tray
Storage Jars
Labels
Measure out about 1 1/2 cups of your coconut oil (I didn’t measure, just sorta eyeballed it), melt until completely liquid in the microwave. It took about a minute for it to be melted ALL the way through.
Next add 15+ drops of the essential oil of your choice. I “tasted” after 15 drops. With the peppermint I ended up adding another 5 or 6 drops. For the thieves, 15 drops was perfect. Stir your oil/coconut oil mix well.
Spoon 2 tablespoons of the mixture into each slot in the ice cube tray.
Freeze until solid, then pop out out of the tray and place in your storage jars.
Store in a cool place (below 70 degrees) to maintain the cube shape. I keep mine in the fridge… you know since Texas is rarely below 70 degrees 😀 )
Now all I have to do in the morning is grab one of these oil cubes and pop it in my mouth! Within a few seconds the oil warms up and after a minute its all melted and swish-able! The process and the texture is much more palatable for me and makes this daily habit much easier!
If you’re still on the fence about this oil pulling thing, I hope these DIY oil pulling cubes will make starting this daily habit easier!

I’ve been oil pulling for 2 weeks now, and this idea is brilliant! I saw this on Sunday Features, and now my afternoon has a project. Thanks for this!

Interesting, I’m usually late to health parties so I didn’t even know you could eat essential oils. I’m just beginning the natural type diets (real food no fillers), natural soaps, etc. I’m excited to go back and read why you should do pulling daily. Thanks!

I’ve not tried oil pulling before, but when I do, I am going to try your recipe! It seems like it would be less messy this way.

I’ve totally stopped oil-pulling and this was a fabulous reminder to get back into the habit.
Now, this, I’ve never seen before – and how clever to make the cubes!
Thanks for sharing (and for linking up to the #SHINEbloghop).
Wishing you a lovely day.
