What You Need to Make Banana & Chocolate Chip Cookies
- 2 ripe overripe bananas mashed
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1 cup white sugar (you can split 1/2 and 1/2 with brown sugar, if desired)
- 2/3 cup butter, room temperature
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 tbs vanilla extract
How to Make Banana & Chocolate Chip Cookies
Preheat oven to 400.
Cream the butter with the sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time.
Mix in the mashed ripe bananas and vanilla. Just, FYI, more ripe means more banana flavor.

Add the dry ingredients to the mashed banana mixture, and stir until just combined.
Stir in the chocolate chips.

Drop by chocolate chip banana cookie dough by spoonfuls onto prepared baking sheets.

Bake 12-15 minutes or until bottom of your banana chocolate cookies are golden brown.
Enjoy!

Why are my cookies flat?!
Oh, your cookies came out flat? Well, that’s ok. They’ll still taste good. But if flat cookies give you heartburn (not the real kind, come on), I’ve got a couple tips for you:
- Be sure you’re cooking with room temperature butter, not melted butter. The consistency of the butter is really important, so make sure that you’re starting right.
- Make sure you preheat your oven BEFORE putting the cookies in. If you put the cookies in too early, they may melt before you can get them heated to the right temperature.
- If you STILL have problems with flat cookies, you might be cooking them too hot. I like to calibrate my oven about once a year, to make sure I’m not cooking things at a temperature higher than my recipes.
And, remember, if you love this recipe for chewy chocolate chip cookies (and I know you will, it’s so amazing), be sure to pin it to your favorite easy cookie recipes board so you can find it again easy when you need another batch!
