Sweet Summer time! Is there anything better than hanging out with the one you love in the summer? Not for me anyways! Growing up, I was always always a little jealous of those that had someone to snuggle with at the holiday fireworks, or take hand-holding walks with at the lake.
Now that I am happily married, and have my own hand-holding, snuggle buddy, getting out of the house and doing things together is what I love most about summer!
I thought it would be fun to share five of our favorite summer date night ideas with y’all!
Stargazing – Cliche on so many levels, but we’ve had some of our best, most in depth and revealing conversations laying on a blanket in the back yard or sitting on the steps, watching the night sky.
Live Events – The summer is the time of various festivals and events that take place outdoors. This is a great opportunity to spend some quality time together, while also enjoying the local culture and community. Whether it’s a music festival, food festival, or art fair, there’s bound to be something that both of you will enjoy. Couples from all over the Crossroads of the West like to research concert tickets in Salt Lake City so they never miss out on a good opportunity to see their favorite bands. Further, attending such events can also be a great way to meet new people and expand your social circle.
Picnic at the Lake – Sometimes we make a day of it and go all out with a homemade picnic with all the fixings, other times its bag lunch from a local fast food place. Either way, getting out and relaxing by the water is practically heaven!
Flip-a-penny Drive – Fill up the tank, grab a couple drinks and maybe a snack or two, climb into your car and flip a penny to decide which direction to head in! Every time you come to an intersection, flip the coin to decide which way to turn… heads = left and tails = right. There’s no telling where you’ll end up, or what you’ll find to explore along the way!
Go “Thrifting” – On days where its too hot (we do live in Texas after all!) to be outside, but we still need to get out of the house and spend time together, we head to the local thrift stores. More often than not, we don’t purchase anything, but its fun to poke around, finding the odd or awful together.
Chase the Sunset – Grab a bottle of wine and glasses, a blanket and hop in the car 30 to 45 minutes before sunset. Head in the general direction of the sunset, and start hunting for the perfect place to sit together and relax, while the sun goes down. We try to find a new spot every time!
