Of all the limits we might be living under, a vast majority are created in our mind. Today we’re talking about your value, beliefs and the fact that you are actually worth it!
One of the core principles of stoic philosophy is that no matter what happens, we always have the ability to choose our attitude. That choice is our regardless of our external circumstances. When it comes to our confidence, no sentiment could be better for us.
It’s essential to know this, because believe it or not, you are actually worth it! It can be hard to confirm and cement this idea in your mind, particularly if you’ve become accustomed to forgoing your needs for others, or because of something you internalized as a child.
How many women struggle to dress in a manner that they might like, simply because they believe they cannot ‘pull it off?’ GUILTY!
To us, happiness is a goal you should strive for, and it’s not gained by chasing it. Instead, it’s gained by working on yourself, shifting your perspective, and then just like a butterfly, happiness will come and land on your shoulder.
For this reason, I would like to offer the following loving advice:
Do Something For Yourself At Random
Too often we can forget to give ourselves the treats we deserve. Every now and then, give yourself a gift at random. Don’t think about it, just do it. This might simply be a nice meal in a cafe for lunch, and saving today’s meal prep for another time.
It might be purchasing yourself a new pair of shoes, or perhaps signing up to that new content service. Now and then we need to remind ourselves that we are worth treating. This is especially true if we’ve otherwise been very disciplined with our budget, or we keep putting others first.
Many can feel guilty when exercising an approach like this, but there’s no reason as to why you should. Doing something for yourself at random needn’t preclude anyone else, but it can help you realize that you should be your own best friend. After all, who knows your interests better than you?
Beautify Yourself, For Yourself
It might be that you’ve been wondering how to contour and highlight for some time, but haven’t had the courage to try and pull it off. Perhaps there’s a dress you used to love but think you’ve ‘grown out of’. Yet in reality, wearing that dress would help you feel confident during an upcoming even you need to attend. Perhaps you simply want to feel more mysterious and attractive on a date, to help you with your magnetism.
When you stop beautifying yourself for other people and decide to do it for yourself, you’ll find it helps with your confidence. When you celebrate your natural beauty in more ways, you immediately start to become a much more vibrant and open person!
It’s quite amazing to see how this can help you flourish out of your shell, and it might give you the tools to feel renewed and confident from head to toe.
Consider Your Environment
Relationships, friends, family, sometimes we both choose and do not choose those who surround us. However, if we continually experience toxic relationships or difficulties stemming from this setup, it can reduce us as a person. As an adult, we can fall into these habits quite easily, and this only leads us to feeling as though we deserve less.
Always consider your environment, because you are heavily influenced by the four of your closest personal contacts. If you need to make a change, don’t be afraid to. If you wish to see the worth in someone you have already ignored, that can be great too. Knowing your worth in social situations can be a profound skill to learn – because not all people learn it. But you have to make a directed effort.
Affirmations
I am a big believer in the power of affirmations.
Affirmations can be more-than-worthwhile sentiment to repeat. You might say ‘I am grateful, I am strong, I am present,’ in the mirror a few times before leaving for work. Say it enough, and you’ll start to believe it. Believe it, and you’ll start to embody it. Sometimes we need to fulfill that role for ourselves.
With this advice, we’d like to think that you’ll finally find that no matter who you are, you are actually worth it, and come to truly believe it!
