Winter is quickly approaching, which means it’s time to take care of your car. Your vehicle is a very complex machine that needs more care than you think. There are many things you should do to prepare your car for winter.
Check your tire pressure
Cars nowadays can tell you when your tire pressure is low, which is pretty awesome. However, a major winter car care tip is to check the tire pressure on all of your vehicles. Low tire pressure usually means your tire is leaking air. This is a quick tip that could end up saving you a lot of money!
Get an oil change before winter hits
The life blood of your car is in the engine. In order for your vehicle to run smoothly, it needs an oil change. An oil change right before winter is one of the best things you can do for your car. Oil changes are pretty inexpensive, but they are the top way you can care for your car.
Put a car emergency kit in your vehicle
When winter hits, no one really knows what can happen. You could be taking a road trip and then out of nowhere your car breaks down. Having a winter car emergency kit is a smart idea. Here are a few items to keep in your car emergency kit.
* Heavy blankets
* Extra water
* Food
* Flash lights
* Jumper cables
Get your spare tire checked
Most of us have some sort of spare tire in our vehicles, right? When was the last time you checked it? Check the spare tire in your car to make sure it’s good to go for winter. You don’t need to have a junk spare tire in your car, make it a good one. After all, you’re depending on this car taking you where you need to go.
Have a bolt test performed
Want to do a winter car care activity that will keep you from being stranded in the cold weather? Have your battery tested. This is also known as a bolt test. A weak battery has no problem going dead when it is the dead of winter. This is a major prevention tip you’ll want to do!
One last tip is to make sure all your liquids are topped off. Your coolant is a big one that you’ll need over the winter months. It helps keep your engine in tip top shape and from freezing. If you don’t want to worry about your vehicle’s winter car care maintenance, take it in to a local car dealership near you!

You know, as a kid, I loved Winter. But as an adult, I think I just can’t afford Winter, lol. I mean, heat bills, car care, shoveling snow, etc., are just too expensive.

This is some really good information about winter car care. I just bought my first car. So, I liked your suggestion about I should have a bolt test performed. That wasn’t even something I would have thought about checking.

I appreciate the suggestions given in this blog regarding the factors which should be taken into consideration to protect the car from the extremely cold temperature of the winter. The freezing temperature has significant impacts on the performance of the vehicle and suitable precautionary measures should be taken into consideration to protect sensitive and expensive equipment of the vehicle.
