How to Prep Your Car to Sell It

There comes a time in every car owner’s life in which they have to sell their car. Selling your car shouldn’t be stressful. In fact, you should embrace the process and get excited because you’re about to make money from selling your car. If you aren’t sure on how to prep your car to sell it, here are some tips!

Have your mechanic take a look at it

Let’s be honest, the average person knows nothing about cars. You don’t want to sell a car that has a ton of problems. Take it to the mechanic to make sure there is nothing too major wrong with it. You don’t have to get everything fixed, but it is nice to have run down of what is wrong or what is going wrong with your vehicle.

Clean out the vehicle really good

Most of us don’t clean out our cars every week. However, if you’re about to sell your car, you’ll want to clean it out as good as possible. We’re talking a GOOD cleaning. The kind where you whip out your shop vacuum and get into all the crevices of your vehicle.

You may be amazed as to what you find in your car. However, you’ll want to have your car clean, just in case it sells ASAP. It’s nice to have all your important paperwork already out of the car.

Make sure you have the title

It’s nearly impossible to sell a vehicle without a title. One thing you will want to make sure you do before you try and sell your car is have the title. Of course, your title will need to be “clean” or else you won’t be able to sell it. This is just a simple tip to take care of before you start the car selling process.

Give your car an oil change before you decide to sell it

Oil changes are inexpensive, but a nice gesture when you’re selling your vehicle. A quick oil change will keep the other person happy and you know you did everything you could to make the car great before selling it.

Make a list of all work that has been done to your car

If you’re selling your car to a person, it’s nice for them to know what you have had done to the car. When did you get new tires? How long have you owned the car? Has it been in any accidents? There are so many questions to be asked whenever you’re selling or buying a vehicle.

Prepping your car to sell it can be a lot of work, but it’s worth it when you have that cash in hand. If you decide to trade in your vehicle, make sure you go to a car dealership that you trust.

If you’d rather not sell it to a dealership this is another good option for selling your car, they are cash for car service so they do not pressure you to buy a car from them.
