What I am working on…

I’ve been sadly lacking in the creativity department for the past couple weeks. I hadn’t really been doing much of anything. Partly because I’ve been sick/dealing with a flare up and partly because I was in a bit of a funk. But its the New Year, I’m excited for all the amazing things in my future and I think I’m getting my mojo back! I’ve got a bunch of things in the works, but I wanted to show you the project I am most excited about right now. Here’s what I am working on…

scrappy hexagon quilt

When I saw this fall/winter edition of the Quilt Sampler, I immediately fell in love with the hexagon quilt on the front! And the best part? They included a template and instructions for how to machine sew the pieces together!! Traditionally a hexagon quilt has required had stitching because of the shape. I’d admired them, but I am definitely not a hand stitching kinda girl.

Once the hexagons are cut and marked, things start to come together fairly quickly. I started sewing the strips together today and then decided I wanted to make it bigger than 48 hexi’s . The pattern provided by the magazine requires more than double that amount  but for my first attempt, I’m down scaling. Cutting the hexi’s are a little time-consuming, but I don’t mind… I watch Grey’s Anatomy on netflix and “play” with my fabric scraps. 🙂 I’m hoping to have a quilt top to show you be the end of next week! *fingers crossed*

I’m loving the way the scraps are working together! Can’t wait to finish this project! 🙂
