If you live in, or near, New Jersey and are looking for a number of places to take your children to celebrate the fall, you are in luck. We have a small list of towns all throughout New Jersey that put on great entertainment, with yummy sweets you can eat as well. There’s so much more to do that just checking out the fall foliage!

Here are some neat places that are not only family-friendly, but have fall events in New Jersey. Fall is coming up quickly!

Pumpkin Carving

Hopewell Township, New Jersey

Check out 5th Annual Amazing Pumpkin Carve. This 4 day event that takes place at Woosley Park, from October 11th-14th, features giant carved pumpkins.

There will also be evening time storytelling around a firepit, a hale bay playground, painting for the kids and dance performances. Make sure you don’t miss out on the smores and apple cider. Cost is $15 for adults, $5 for youth. Children 4 and under are free. 

Pumpkin Train

Flemington, New Jersey

On the weekends, from September 28th through October 27th, Black River & Western Railroad Flemington Station puts on the Pumpkin Train for young and old alike.

They have a 6-acre corn maze for you to get lost in, tractor pulls, petting zoo, a concession stand with your favorite festive treats. There is also a DJ and fun games. Be sure to pick up your very own pumpkin before heading out.

Sunflower Festival

Cream Ridge, New Jersey

At Holland Ridge Farms, not only can you wander through fields of enormous sunflowers, but get the chance to learn about Holland in a museum and also a Holland Shop. Isn’t this amazing? Sunflowers are all the rage, during the fall months.

Autumn Skies and Pumpkin Pies

Farmingdale, New Jersey

There’s all kinds of neat things to discover during the Autumn Skies and Pumpkin Pies at the Historic Allaire Village. There will be an apple pie baking contest, hat making for children, historic demonstrations, and old fashioned games. Be sure to check out the live demonstrations on blacksmithing, carpentry, weaving and fibre arts. The event takes place on September 21st from 11-4p.m.

Annual New Jersey Botanical Gardens Harvest Fest and Craft Fair

Ringwood, New Jersey

Another fall event taking place this year on October 19th, is at the New Jersey Botanical Gardens. And it only costs $5 a car load. The will have some delicious festive foods, pumpkin games, hayrides, applesauce making, music and dancing.

Learn How to Make Apple Cider

Chester, New Jersey

Here’s your chance to see how apple cider, your favorite fall drink is made.  Hacklebarney Farm Cider Mill is an old historic cider mill that uses over 23 different types of apples in the process.

Make sure to call ahead of time to know when the pressing demonstrations take place. There’s also a Twisty Corn Maze and your chance to pick your own pumpkin. 

Great Pumpkin Festival

Vernon, New Jersey

Every weekend from September 14th through November 3rd, Heaven Hill Farm holds the Great Pumpkin Festival. Come on out with the whole family and spend the afternoon picking out the largest pumpkin you can find.

There will also be face painting, pony rides, farm animals, carnival rides, hay and corn mazes. Cost is $15 a person (2 and under free), with no parking fees.

If you are traveling far to get to New Jersey, make sure you get a tune up for your car at the dealership before you leave. You want to enjoy fall, not spend it stranded on the side of the road!
