Things I Learned About Myself in the Last Year

This post may contain affiliate or brand partner links. Read our full disclosure here.

Today’s my birthday. I’ve grown and changed so much, I thought today would be the perfect day to share 10 things I’ve learned about myself in the last year with you all (Plus there is a giveaway at the end!)

I've grown and changed so much, I thought today would be the perfect day to share 10 things I've learned about myself in the last year!
My amazing friend Devian did a mini branding shoot with me over the weekend and send me a few images just in time for this post! 🙂

In no particular order:

9 Things I’ve Learned About Myself in the Last Year:

I can do hard things.
Cliche? Maybe. Probably.
ok. Definitely cliche.
BUT ALSO TRUE.
I’ve faced some challenges this year, truly hard things that tested my resolve, determination and ability to bounce back. But oh baby, did I bounce!

I can make my dreams come true.
Hustle, a lot of late nights, even more early mornings, and more cups of coffee than I can count all added up to crushing a couple of BIG goals this year. The most recent being getting my out-of-the-house office!

Dream Big, then dream BIGGER.
Those dreams that I made happen? 2 years ago they seemed massive and almost impossible. Now? They aren’t big enough. As I’ve grown, learned, evolved and changed, so have my dreams.

As they should.

I know what I want.
I’ve spent a lot of time getting very specific about what I want out of life. And I do mean SPECIFIC. Details about how I want my days to be, the income I want to make, the people I want to help, the projects I want to tackle… all of the things I want included in my best life.

And folks, these goals, dreams, details are intimidating from where I sit right now… but I KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that I can and will make them my reality.

I am not everyone’s cup of tea.
Not everyone is going to be my new best friend, or even an actual friend. I don’t “jive” with every single person on this planet.

Shocking, I know. I am basically the bomb-diggity and 47 kinds of awesome.

For way too many years I valued the number of friends I could claim over the quality of friend. The last year exposed some lopsided, unhealthy relationships… and I made a choice (an agonizingly hard choice) to let them go.

Letting go makes room for bigger and better.
I’ve let go of a lot in the last 365 days – people, ambitions, and stuff.

I’ve let go of SO MUCH STUFF. My lovely friend Erin has ever so lovingly prodded my stubborn behind down the decluttering rabbit hole… and I am ever so grateful!

I choose me.
This one might strike you as a little selfish. A few years ago, I would have thought the same. I have truly come to recognize that if I don’t choose me – choose to focus on my desires, dreams, needs, goals – no one else will.

Now I’m not saying that there aren’t people in my life that value me or care for me, I am definitely blessed in that department, I’m saying that by choosing me first I am able to achieve so much more each day, and in return give so much more to the people in my life that need and deserve it.

My Story has value, impact and needs to be told.
I took a leap of faith and launched a monthly membership program that is all about sharing the lessons I’ve learned – business, personal, etc – and helping other creative entrepreneurs pick the right goals to work on. We’re 2 weeks into the first month, and I can confidently say this is one of the things I was meant to do!

I am so, so, so blessed.
Of all the things I’ve learned and areas I’ve grown in the last year, none is more important or truer than this.

I am living an amazing, blessed, abundant, full, loved life.

And I wouldn’t change a thing!

Ok. I’d change one thing. I’d make my 2 favorite things to consume – caramel macchiatos and cheetos – fat and calorie free!

My 36th year on this planet is looming bright, shiny and new… I can’t wait to see what else I accomplish, what dreams I achieve, and what impact this next year will have on my life and the lives of those around me!

I could easily go on with another 14 or 15 things that I’ve learned about myself in this last year, but I’m going to stop here.

Gotta save some goodie bits for the book I’ll write one day 😉
