Meditation is a life skill that I truly believe everyone would benefit from! Sharing the why in this post, so keep reading!
Have you ever sat down and meditated for a few minutes? You might have tried after reading my posts about whats so great about meditation or creating strong meditation habits, you may have given it a shot!
There are some benefits of meditation that you notice right away including feeling calm and focused. Your heart rate slows, your blood pressure drops, and you have an overall feeling of well-being.
Those immediate perks of meditating are great and reason enough to make it a regular habit, but there’s more to be gained.
Meditation is a life skill that:
Combats Stress
One of the main reasons many of us turn to meditation is to combat stress. It was the initial reason I began developing meditation habits. We are bombarded by information, distractions, and various other things that stress us out. Meditation will help combat at least some of that stress and restore balance.
There aren’t a lot of things we can do to reduce stress and even fewer to combat it. Alongside with eating a healthy diet, exercising, and getting enough sleep, meditation is a life skill that can help you get there.
Improves Your Health
I don’t have to tell you that bad health will ruin your day faster than just about anything else. Meditation will help you when you’re dealing with sickness and injuries. To begin with, meditating regularly will boost your immune system so you don’t get sick as often as you used to.
When you do come down with something or get hurt, your body will be able to heal itself faster thanks to meditation. That’s a pretty big perk and something that will serve you well throughout your life.
Cultivates Kindness And Gratitude
Meditation makes you live in the moment and teaches you both kindness and gratitude. It has done so for thousands of years.
When you think of Tibetan monks one of the first things you might picture are their smiling faces. You then think about how kind they are and how happy and content they all seem to be. That’s no accident – its because meditation is a life skill that they prioritize.
Meditation puts things in perspective in ways you wouldn’t expect, while helping you appreciate what you have and who the important people in your life are.
Don’t you think those would be helpful traits to have in your own life? They’ve made a significant impact in my life!
Practices Patience And Tenacity
Meditation is simple, but it’s not an easy skill to master. That’s actually a good thing.
As you continue on your own journey of meditation, it will teach you both patience and tenacity. It turns out, both those skills are also incredibly handy for the rest of your life.
How much easier will it become to parent, to finish school, to strive for that big promotion at work, to lose those extra 30 pounds, or grow a thriving business, if you can master patience and tenacity?
Meditation is a life skill that will impact every aspect of who you are – spirit, soul, mind, and body!
