Summer is here, and with it comes the opportunity to make simple moments special! All it takes is a little imagination and a few extra minutes!
*Thanks to Cheerios for sponsoring today’s post! All opinions are my own.*
When my best friend told me she was moving several hours away, I was pretty heart broken. Shelli is my fabric-hoarding, adventure loving, ride or die BFF. It was impossible to imagine what life would be like with out our weekly dinner dates and random shopping adventures. Before she loaded up the truck, and headed out of town, we had one last girls morning.
We didn’t have a ton of time at our disposal, so I skipped cooking fancy breakfast foods, and grabbed our favorite cereals at Walmart. With a mad dash around the house to “shop my shelves”, a $5 bouquet of yellow daisies and an easy, but tasty breakfast, I was ready for our last in person girl-talk time!
To help make simple moments special, just “shop” your house! Look for simple, but pretty things… A vase with flowers (real or fake!). Fabric, doilies or napkins to add a little soft texture. Serving tray – doubles as a way to carry everything out, and add some charm to the table. The “pretty dishes” are another way to add some fancy fun and color.
Taking it all outside, or setting up in an unusual location can also add some fun! Don’t have a patio table? Make it a picnic! If the weather doesn’t cooperate, set up a picnic on the living room floor 🙂
I grabbed a farmhouse style milk bottle vase set, vintage style doilies, a metal tray, vintage pyrex bowls and a couple of my favorite mugs. In just a few minutes I’d set up a simple, pretty and cozy table on the back patio.
Add in our favorite Cherrios (Original for me and Apple Cinnamon for Shelli), milk, coffee, sugar and creamer and we were all set for a perfect morning!
Of course I had to send Shelli off with a few things, including some Cherrios of her own, so once she got all moved, she’d at least have some cereal to munch on! Cheerios wants to help you spread some love with a free box of your favorite cherrio’s cereal! All you need is the code from inside specially marked boxes of Cheerios cereal!
Find your code inside specially marked packages in stores and enter it at http://wm6.walmart.com/Gluten-Free-Cheerios to send a coupon for a free box of Cheerios to someone that matters. When you buy a box, you can give a box!
I love your table set up, and that mug is great! I love sitting outside to drink my coffee, but I never thought to enjoy breakfast on the back patio! I may do that sometime this week!
I eat Cheerios for breakfast every morning. I also eat them for a pre-bedtime snack, too! LOL 😉
Cheerios is one of those cereals that you can always count on to taste exactly the same whether your last bowl was yesterday or ten years ago. I love that coffee mug as well!
I love a pretty table scape! There is nothing like fresh flowers to perk up the table!
That’s a beautiful table scape. We also love Cheerios. Apple Cinnamon is my favorite.
Sometimes it’s the smallest detail which really pull a look together, whether it be an outfit or a tables cape. Great post!!
That looks like a nice breakfast setting and the food of course is top knotch. I love cheerios and we eat them with milk as well as dry in my home, so yummy!
My kids go to breakfast option is always Cheerios. In fact they also like to snack on them when they get home from school too.
I like this, I need to practice shopping my home more often. I’m going to try this out and see how it goes.
We always have Cheerios in our house. My favorite way to eat I was with sliced bananas.
Aw, this is such a wonderful idea. This is very creative and doesn’t cost a thing!
I definitely need to try this with my girls! I don’t know why I haven’t thought of this before!
My kids always loved cheerios growing up. I love your set up and love the idea of enjoying a picnic even if it is in the living room. Those are memories that will last a lifetime.
Ooooh I love the idea of this! I’m going to start making little moments special too, because EVERY moment should be a special one!! Thank you for the inspiration and simple reminder!
I love this idea! My kids love Cheerios for breakfast! It really makes their day extra special!
I need that mug in my life. I hate when people wake up talking to me. – yolonda
My son really love Cheeros and this is a great way to have simple moment with him. I also love the flower it is really gorgeous.
These are some adorable ideas! Cheerios seem like such a simple and household food but it was such a big deal when they went gluten free. My middle son was 8 years old when he first had cheerios.
I love the flowers! Simple moments are sometimes the best ! Taking an effort to make it special is great.
My husband and daughter love Cheerios! They go through a phase where they would only want to eat that for breakfast.
How lovely to breakfast outside and those yellow flowers just shout happiness don’t they? Thanks for sharing with us at #overthemoon link party. I’m sharing on social media. Have a lovely week and see you next week.

Sorry your BFF had to leave. Mine went all the way back to Alaska, so I really never see her anymore. I love the table setting though. Super cute flower display. I have to say I love cheerios. Honey Cheerios to be exact. Such a great way to make your last hang out together special.
Ha I love that mug too! Thank you for sharing on Merry Monday! Have a great week!
