Light and Healthy Summer Entertaining

Partnering today with Sabra to talk about light and healthy summer entertaining! All opinions are my own.

SUMMER! Its here! And that means BBQ’s and cook outs and bonfires and lots of entertaining! And while Texas and BBQ are pretty much synonymous, not every summer even involves meat cooking over the fire (although I wouldn’t be mad if it did!). I don’t envy the person responsible for the potential grilling this time of year, either. 100+ degrees and fire don’t always mix well.

Sometimes, its nice to sit outside chatting with my family (aka the in-laws and hubby) munching on something light and healthy! Not to mention that I don’t envy the person responsible for the grilling this time of year. With the hubby home for the last few weeks (a welcome change to say the least), we’ve been spending lots of time outside in the yard, relaxing and chatting. The last time the in-laws joined us, I offered to take care of lunch. Some light and healthy summer entertaining was in order!

On the menu?

Veggies fresh from my garden (tomatoes and cucumber), zucchini chips (made from zucchini from my garden), Sabra Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Watermelon, Summer Sangria, and Meats & Cheeses for sandwiches. My MIL and I are both trying to eat paleo-ish, so we skipped the buns and loaded up on the tasty veggies, delicious sabra hummus and added a little meat and cheese. It was perfect for munching on while sitting in the shade and trading stories of our childhoods.

In my books, light and healthy summer entertaining is the way to go! Prep was quick and easy, the food was delicious and clean up was a breeze! Not to mention “shopping from my garden” is a whole lot of fun!

Sabra Hummus is a staple around here, especially with all of the fresh, yummy vegetables I’ve been picking from my garden this year! I’ve got tomatoes, cucumber and zucchini coming out my ears these days, so I always stock up on sabra hummus when I hit the deli section of my local Walmart! And bonus! Sabra is giving away a grill to a lucky winner this summer!

I really dislike heavy meals when the weather is super hot & uncomfortable. Hummus, veggies and healthy zucchini chips sound amazing together.

Hummus is perfect in the summer. It’s light, refreshing, and you don’t have to make it yourself and heat up the whole house.

Huge hummus family here. We actually buy the Sabra individual packs for our 3 year old during the school year to take in his lunch to Mother Day Out.
