As part of the Shaklee Program each month, we have a challenge. This month our challenge is to write a post about things we’ve learned about ourselves since starting the program or things we love about ourselves.. Talk about a doozey! It’s easy for me to say that I like myself, but actually LOVE myself? That’s a whole lot tougher… so I decided to stretch myself and go for FIVE things I truly Love about me!
#1. I love my eyes. Now hear me out… I have kind of awesome eyes! They change color with my mood and they are my number one favorite feature. When you’re the chubby kid that everyone mocks, you must have something that sets you apart. For me it was my eyes… people could/would always compliment me on them… even when I’m at my chubbiest.
#2. My creative side. Being creative is what has, and continues to, keep me sane. Especially since I’ve moved to Texas and now spend so much of my time alone (which is not a bad thing). If I can keep my hands busy, I’m not munching on chocolate chips or scarfing down 4 hot dogs. Being creative has helped me build confidence and discover new things about myself. I kind of always knew that this side of me existed, but is has really begun to come to life since I started blogging.
#3. The people who I choose to do life with. Now you might think that this isn’t something that I can love about myself, but I think it is. Choosing the right people to have access to your life is a big deal, and I’ve made many mistakes in this area in the past. I’ve learned that in order to let the right people in I have to value myself enough to keep the wrong people out. Having struggled with my weight and self-esteem issues my whole life, it was very easy to let just about anyone that said something nice into my life… because I didn’t value me, I didn’t expect others to either.
#4. My Hair. I know, I know! Again with the physical feature thing! But let me tell you, I have AWESOME hair! Its long enough that I can sit on it, and its thick and healthy and I LOVE MY HAIR! So there! Pretty much my biggest fear in life is losing my hair for some reason or another… the stuff my night mares are made of. Seriously.
Ignore the arm fat… look at MY HAIR! Told you its awesome π OH and Ps. Its pretty much never curly, this was a special treat for me courtesy of V05 at Blissdom.
#5. I love who I am becoming. All of the things above come back around to this one, all important thing. I LOVE who I am becoming. I am becoming a smarter, more successful, thinner, healthier, more awesome me… and that’s what truly matters at the end of the day. And this new, improved, more awesome me is pretty darn loveable!
What are some things YOU love about You?

Jennifer,
I don't know how I happened upon your blog, but I did and have been following for a short while. I was never the chubby kid, I was always thin until I had kids. Then something changed and I have been battleing my weight ever since. My 'kids' are now 31 and 27!! I love to eat and hate to diet. Sugar is my favorite food group.
All that to say, I'm there with you sister!!
Your hair is beautiful and your arms are fine. (Although, I hate mine and wouldn't wear a sleeveless anything and am sorry that bathing suits aren't made with sleeves!)
The thing I like best about me are my hair-I have great hair (or so everyone says) and my sense of humor! I have found that having a good sense of humor and being able to laugh at yourself gets you through a lot.

I totally agree about the sense of humor! Thank goodness I have a great one! So glad you found me π Hope you're inspired by my journey π

I love this!!! I'm so proud of you for working so hard to become the person you want to be. You really are an inspiration!
I have eyes that change color too plus my hair is almost that long now!!! I think I'm going to donate mine once it gets to the length I want π
I agree with you about #3. It is a tough journey to figure out how to appreciate yourself enough to only have positive influences around you. I'm so happy that you are starting to love yourself. It makes all the difference π
