101 Handmade Days: DIY Mean Girls Mug

This post may contain affiliate or brand partner links. Read our full disclosure here.

Mean Girls – a movie ever so loved and ever so quotable! Its a Classic girly movie and it definitely influenced pop culture! Its a huge favorite of mine and the inspiration behind my latest DIY 🙂

Remember those Color Etched Mugs I shared recently? Well I decided that at least one of them needed a little something more… so I contacted the fabulous Amanda, from Sip Simmer Serve, to see if she wanted to collaborate with me on this…. and She did!! She created the decals for this fun Mean Girls mug and I am in LOVE!!!

Here is what you need to make your own DIY Mean Girls Mug:

Decal from Sip Simmer Serve
Mug of your choosing

Step one: Decorate your mug –  you can color etch it like I did, use glass paints or just leave it plain. This part is all about your creativity! 🙂

Step two: Wash your mug well.

Step three: Apply the decal! Amanda’s decals come with clear transfer tape to make the placement easy! I ran into a tiny snag with my “You Whore” … there should be an “!” at the end, but instead I ended up with a period. I’m gonna blame it on being a newbie to this decal transfer thing. All I can really tell you, is to find something with a hard, smooth edge, that is easy to grip for rubbing the decals on. I ended up using the edge of a tin of lip scrub. Random, I know, but it had the perfect smooth edge that was just a tiny bit rounded and it was easy for me to grip while applying the necessary pressure.

You can’t tell me that this Mean Girls mug doesn’t make you giggle at least a little! I know I do every morning that I’ve used it! It brings back memories of going to the movies with my girlfriends, randomly quoting the movie to each other and lots of fun times!

Oh the memories….

Pretty sure I’ll be watching Mean Girls tonight and calling some of my best girlfriends to reminisce!

Inspired by the Movie, You’re gonna LOVE this Mean Girls Mug!! #101handmadedays
