I’ve been making more of an effort to reduce icky chemicals in my house. From more natural cleaning solutions, to homemade dryer sheets and using essential oils every chance I get! Today I’m switching out the old air fresheners I have kicking around for these fresh, chemical free, DIY air fresheners that use essential oils!
This fun little DIY Air Fresheners are super easy to make and smell divine! All you need is some clean, empty jars ( I used old baby food jars), baking soda and your favorite essential oils!
I made 2 different versions…
First I did a Lemon air freshener:
Fill your jar a little over half way with baking soda. Add in 1/2 teaspoon of grated lemon peel. Add 5 drops of Lemon essential oil. Use a fork to mix ingredients well. Cover.
Second was a Lavender air freshener:
Fill your jar a little over half way with baking soda. Add in 1/2 teaspoon of dried lavender buds. Add 5 drops of Lavender essential oil. Use a fork to mix ingredients well. Cover.
To cover your DIY air fresheners you’ll need some ribbon, an elastic and a porous cloth like Burlap.
Cut the cloth to a size that will fit over the top of the jar and a little down the sides. Wrap the elastic tightly around the top of the jar to secure the cloth over the jar. Wrap a length of ribbon over top of the elastic and tie in a bow.
To get an additional pop of fragrance, you can add a drop of essential oil to the underside of the fabric.
