101 Handmade Days: Crocheted Snowflake Ornament

In case you couldn’t tell… I LOVE Christmas! And I am ALL about the handmade ornaments to decorate the Christmas tree. Making new ornaments every year has been a tradition in my family for as long as I can remember. We always had so much fun sitting around a news paper covered table, painting and gluing and sparkling like crazy! My take on handmade has definitely grown more sophisticated over the years, but my love for unique ornaments has remained the same! For my latest handmade ornament attempt, I decided to go back to my crochet roots with this pretty and delicate crocheted snowflake ornament!

I used this video tutorial I found on youtube. It creates perfect, delicate and detailed crocheted snowflake ornament that I am obsessed with!

The only thing that I changed from this pattern was the materials. Instead of the very fine, pure cashmere yarn that Chandi used, I used Caron’s Simply Soft Party yarn. I used White, Red and Silver Sparkle. I loved that the party yarsn already have some sparkle and glitter in them. It really makes this crocheted snowflake ornament come to life.

To crochet them I used a 2.75 mm hook. Its a very small hook, much smaller than I’m used to using. But it creates perfectly dainty stitches and the crocheted snowflake ornament finish at 3 inches. Which, in my opinion, is the perfect size.

I only wish I had an actually TREE to hang these on so you could see exactly how perfect they are!

Dainty and Beautiful! We’re obsessed with these Crocheted Snowflake Ornaments! #ChristmasinJuly

I wish I could crochet! Hah, I get so frustrated with it and always give up. Then I pout like a child for a little while. I’m a lover of Christmas myself!
