Do you have a rug in front of your kitchen sink? I did for a while, but the cats ended up tearing it apart and it got tossed. Replacing it has been on my to do list for a while. When I cam across this tutorial for a Crocheted Rope Basket, I thought “Hey!” I can use these directions to make a rug! And so, I made myself a crocheted rope rug!
If you have some basic crocheting skills, this should be pretty easy for you to do. It was for me 🙂 I followed the directions that Make My Day Creative laid out for the flat bottom of her Crocheted Rope Basket and just kept going until I got my rug to the size I wanted.
It took about 5ish hours of off and on crocheting ( Hubby is home sick, and I was working on this while taking care of him). I used woven laundry line rope and Caron’s Simply Soft in Heather Grey and Hot Pink to create the two toned look. My crocheted rope rug turned out pretty soft too!
With this cozy rug under my toes, I don’t mind standing at the sink to do the dishes quite so much 🙂 I definitely see some more crocheted rope projects in my future! I still want to create at least a couple baskets and maybe a larger crocheted rope rug for my side of the bed 🙂
Do you have a kitchen sink rug? Have you ever tried this crocheted rope technique?
