101 Handmade Days: ABC Handwriting Cookies

This post may contain affiliate or brand partner links. Read our full disclosure here.

I have a love/hate relationship with facebook… its far too easy for me to get distracted by the random videos on there and lately I’ve been entranced by the cookie decorating videos! While I’m not quite at the level of the sugar cookie decorating video makers, I’m not completely with out skill. So in honor of back to school, I give you ABC Handwriting Cookies!

INGREDIENTS
2 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour
1 t of baking soda

1 t vanilla

DIRECTIONS
1.   Preheat oven to 375° degrees.
2.   In a small mixing bowl, add flour, baking soda and baking powder.
3.   In a medium mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
4.   Add egg and vanilla to sugared butter and mix for about 45 seconds.
5.   Slowly add the dry ingredients and mix until well-incorporated.
6.   Using a cookie scoop, form uniform balls out of the dough and
place on parchment-lined cookie sheets.
7.   Bake 10-12 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool for at least
2 hours on a wire rack.
8.   Melt 1/2 cup of the green Wilton candy melts in the microwave for
40 seconds. Stir until completely melted. Do not overheat or the melts
will get too hard.
9.   Spread the melted candy on each sugar cookie and let cool for at
least 1 hour.
10. Using a tube of Wilton icing writer, alternate by drawing a
straight, solid line across the cookie and a dotted line…resembling
old-fashioned handwriting paper. Repeat down the entire cookie. Let
set for 30 minutes.
11.  Using the icing writer, draw cursive letters on each cookie. Let
set for 30 minutes.
12.  ENJOY!
