Works in Progress + There is a Squirrel in My Fabrics!

ONE MORE SLEEP!! I leave for the quilting retreat tomorrow at Sunset Retreat! I am soooo excited! This is pretty much the only “cool” thing I’ll be doing to celebrate my birthday(at least until the fall when I can have a party), so you better believe I am going to  enjoy every single moment and get as much out of it as I can!

Of course leaving for 4 days and making sure that I have more than enough projects to keep me busy is a big deal of its own. I have 2 for sure projects I want to accomplish over the weekend and then 2 others that I’d like to work on/get started on… these are also scrap busting projects.

Fabric Stash Mountain

As evidenced by the 6 bins over flowing with fabric… I really do need to do some major stashbusting! I’ve declared August my fabric stash busting month! I am hoping to get 4, yes FOUR quilt tops done this month 😀 A girl can dream right?

Fabric Stash Mountain... worse before it gets better!

This was my view after I can home from VBS last night. I had planned on watching some friends play baseball after I got changed and rested a bit, but I got sucked into the vortex that is the disaster in my living room.

Fabric Stash Mountain ... a little better

By the time that I was ready to go to bed I had sorted all the bins, folded all my yardage, decided what category the scraps fell into and had things semi organized! Go me! When I get back next week I’m going to iron fold all my scrap bits and get them their own little bin to live in. I love my scraps! But I am thinking of possibly having a destash sale on instagram… we’ll see 🙂

Right before I was ready to go to bed, I checked in the spare room/ craft room for any other fabric I had missed… I discovered this instead…

I think there is a squirrel storing his nuts in my fabric.

Looks like some sort of rodent decided that my vintage polyester fabrics would make a nice storage unit. Fortunately I am not attached to any of these fabrics and just trashed them. But I am a little worried about what I’ll find as I do a little more organizing and tidying before I leave! And even more worried about what I’ll find when I come back from being gone for 4 days! Oy Vey!

There is no way I could possibly keep up with all of that fabric. How do you do it? I'd get so forgetful, I wouldn't know if I was finding new ones or losing old ones, lol.

Who said I keep up? LOL! I'd definitely forgotten about at lest half of what I organized last night! I can't wait to get a shelf and make it all pretty 🙂

WOW! I thought my stash was big! I see lots of quilts in there waiting to be made. The idea of a squirrel in my fabrics would creep me out but it's funny at the same time. It makes a great story to remember every time you look at your project made with those materials. I LOVE that there are still young people out there that appreciate hand-made crafts! So many don't have time, no interest, being on their cells WAY TOO MUCH, and what ever reason….

LMAO! Who knew squirrels preferred a cotton/poly blend? I'm honestly surprised that they didn't shred those fabrics, or poop all over.
