Its been a little nutty around here. Surprising right? 😉 Now that Hubs is back on the road, the past few days have sort of fallen into a manageable routine… the house is mostly clean, I can take a nap guilt free and I’m getting stuffs done 🙂 The past few days have been full of cutting, ironing and sewing. Lots and lots of sewing 🙂

String Blocks! - BusyBeingJennifer.com

As of right now I’m up to 55 6.5 inch string blocks. These will get patched together in groups of 4 to create 12.5 inch blocks and eventually, when I’ve made 288 of them, it will turn into a queen size quilt!! I’m piecing it from 85% scraps. I’ve cut a few strips off of some of my favorite fabrics to include.

String Block 2 - BusyBeingJennifer.com String Block 1 - BusyBeingJennifer.comSo far these 2 blocks are my favorite. The combination of colors and  patterns just seems to work well in my brain. And those little deer!! I love them! I’m hoping to have the block done before Feb. 6th so that I can piece this top together at the quilting retreat 🙂

Sunday Outfit - BusyBeingJennifer.com

I don’t often post outfits that I’ve worn, but I got to wear something new that I’ve had in my closet a while on Sunday. I figure that’s a good reason to celebrate with a few pictures 🙂

I purchased this dress on black Friday and got a sweet deal! I purposefully bought a size down from what I was wearing then. I finally remembered to try it on this past Sunday before church… lo and behold!… it fits! In fact its actually a little on the big side now 🙂 Still, I felt pretty. I got lots of complements and for the first time in a while I actually WANTED to take a couple selfies 🙂

Now for the sale I mentioned in the title!

HHReadyToShipSale

Hubs doesn’t get his first pay check until the end of the month and we have a few bills due before then. I’m selling a bunch of awesome handmade goodies at a discount to make that possible! I hope you’ll help me out and spread the word 🙂 If you share this image on Facebook or instagram, be sure to leave me a comment and let me know so I can enter you in the contest!

I wish I had the equipment to be able to quilt. I have the fabrics and a machine that could be used to quilt the top but it would get to bulky to quilt the sandwich *sigh* But congrats on being able to fit in that dress, it looks good 🙂

I love the blue color of your dress! I think the first square is my favorite. I really like the flower print strip. The deer are really cute too though!

Cute dress… The quite is going to be super cute. I wished I had better sewing skills and I would do more things like that. Mine are seriously lacking.

That dress is fantastic, wow! And the string blocks look good, are you doing them free form and then squaring them up? Or using a template?

I have the strips cut into specific lengths and using a 6.5 square ruler as a guide to make sure its totally covered. Then I just sew the strips together. at the end of each day I use the square ruler to trim everything 🙂 They are a little time consuming, but I'm so in love with this project that I don't mind at all 😀

That makes total sense. I'm planning to do one of these and had considered using tracing paper squares, paper piecing it, so I'd make sure the strips cover… but the thought of then ripping all the paper out of the back is not as fun. 🙂
