You have been asked if you’d like your air filter changed, but you most likely said no. You may not even know what an air filter is or why it would need checked or changed. If it’s been a while, don’t say no to the new air filter, as there are some quality reasons why you should get your air filter checked and possibly changed.

Air filters need changed periodically

If you’ve had your car for a couple of years and you haven’t had your air filter changed, think again. Usually, air filters need changed every 12,000 to 15,000 miles. In fact, if you were to check your owner’s manual right now, it would tell you when your air filter needed changed.

An off white appearance isn’t good

When it comes to your air filter, you want it to be in tip top shape. You can easily check an air filter and see if it needs checked, sometimes on your own. If it’s full of debris and dirt, then that is a sure sign that it needs changed.

Air filters aren’t that expensive

Let’s be honest, there are a lot worse things that could go wrong on our vehicles. An air filter isn’t the most expensive thing that could need done. If it’s dirty and not working at full capacity, then maybe it’s time to say yes to the new air filter.

If you live in a dusty area, your air filter will need changed more

Let’s say you live in an area that produces a lot of dust and dirt, that air filter is going to go bad really quick. Don’t wait until you start seeing lots of other problems. Instead, take care of it when you need to. Air filters are one of those things you don’t really want to push to its limit.

When your engine won’t start right

There is nothing worse than hopping in your vehicle and your engine won’t start. This could be a sign that your air filter needs changed. A dirty air filter means fresh air can’t get to the engine, which is vital to helping it run smoothly. It’s amazing how a little bit of dirt can add up to things going bad, quickly.

You can avoid all of this by getting your car properly serviced. Before your air filter goes bad, have it looked at by a car dealership that you trust.

Good article and good reasons to have your air filter checked more often.
