While I love my neutral farmhouse book stacks for year-round display I really wanted something cute and simple for Valentine’s Day… cue this adorable Valentine’s Book Stack project!
With my office coming together (finally), I’ve got some cute shelves that are just begging to be decorated. I love seasonal decor in my office!
It makes the space seem more welcoming, happy and since it’s painted all white, it adds much needed color!
So I ran into Dollar Tree for a couple of books that I didn’t mind defacing and then raided my craft stash for the rest of the items.
I am so pleased with the outcome and it cost less than $3 in supplies to make them!
How to Make a Valentine’s Book Stack:
You will need:
- Cricut or other vinyl cutting machine
- Red vinyl
- Adhesive mat
- Red or red/white twine
- 2-3” burlap ribbon
- White acrylic paint
- Foam brush
- Hot glue gun/glue sticks
- Small piece of greenery
Directions to make your Valentine’s Book Stack:
First, you want to remove the outside jacket of your book and toss it. Paint the outside and the edges of your book jackets with 1-2 coats of paint, drying between coats to get nice coverage.
Download “The Skinny” from font.com and install it on your computer, your vinyl program will pull it over but you will need to close and reopen the program if it was open during download.
Create your wording using your design software and cut it out, carefully weed and transfer to your books, be sure to press vinyl firmly into the book. If you have very sticky transfer paper I have found it helpful to press it against my shirt a few times to reduce the tackiness before lifting the vinyl of its original backing.
Wrap one end of the book in the burlap ribbon and secure with hot glue.
Wrap the burlap ribbon a few times with red and white bakers twine to add a subtle pop of color.
Finish off your book stack by adding a bit of greenery under the twine and securing it in place with hot glue.
This Valentine’s Book Stack is incredibly easy and simple to create… and so much fun too! I might go just a little book stack making crazy and make some for every holiday, season and everything in between!

I like how you’ve embellished with the lacy and red ribbons.
