Is there anything more fun than an advent calendar? I know I LOVE my Christmas one each year, so for February, I thought it would be fun to share a Valentines Advent Calendar!
Materials Needed:
A large piece of cardboard (at least 11 x14)
Chalkboard spray paint
A mask
Mini safety pins
Glue gun (or other STRONG glue)
Poster board or card stock (for the frame)
Marker
Small treat or snack bags
Candy, stickers and other treats
Instructions
Lay out some plastic or newspaper in a well ventilated area, outdoors is best. Put the mask on!
Spray the cardboard , in even side to side sweeps, with the chalkboard paint. I was surprised, one coat
was enough. Allow to dry completely, this took less than an hour.
Once the cardboard is dry, glue the safety pins on in rows. You should have 14. One for each day of
February leading up to Valentine’s Day.
Cut long strips of card stock or poster board, about 1- 2 inches wide to create a border around the
outer edges of the cardboard. This will give it a finished look and hide the ugly cuts.
Cut 14, 2 inch squares of card stock or poster board. Write the numbers 1-14 on them and a fun,
cute messgage on the back!
Fill 14 treat bags with candy, stickers, etc. Use your imagination! Clip the treat bags with the numbered
squares under each clothes pin.
Hang up on February 1st. and allow your child to open one each day! Happy Valentine’s Day.
Isn’t this Valentines Advent Calendar adorable? And its going to be so much fun for the kids too! They’ll love getting a fun little treat each day leading up to Valentines!
