There are few things I love more in life than losing myself in a good book. Getting sucked into an epic story and whisked away from a hum-drum sort of day. Every now and then I am lucky enough to stumble upon a story that sucks me in so deeply that time has no meaning and it becomes almost impossible to stop reading!
The Selection Book Series by Kiera Cass contains such a story.
A couple of months ago, I was lucky enough to stumble upon a recommendation and great reviews while looking for something new to read. I purchased “The Selection” as an ebook just before dinner, and started reading… and kept reading… and reading… Before I knew it, it was 4 am! I had finished the entire book in about 9 hours!!! And I absolutely HAD to know what happened to America, Maxim and Aspen next… so I purchased book two, The Elite, and KEPT READING! Until I physically couldn’t read any more.
Its been AGES since I’ve been so pulled into a story line that I just couldn’t stop reading. Have you heard of this series?
For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.
But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn’t want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.
Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she’s made for herself–and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined. – Goodreads
I constantly found myself switching “teams”… with each event and mishap, my heart kept bouncing from “Team Aspen” to “Team Maxim” and back again… over and over. I’ve read the whole series now… twice… (and I even purchased hard copies in edition to the ebooks!), so I know the choice that America makes in the end… but I CAN NOT WAIT to read the next chapter in America’s story!
The Heir is launching on May 5, 2015 and I Can Not Wait to get my hands on a copy and finds out what happens next! In the meantime, I’ll content myself with reliving my favorite moments in The Selection and enjoy this pretty chalkboard printable with my favorite Kiera Cass quote!

It’s not all lighthearted if you read the later books you’ll know what I mean.
