I love it when inspiration strikes! I was poking around pinterest late one night (nothing surprising there right?), when I cam across this pin. I loved the Anthro inspired neutral look… but I wanted mine to be more Valentines-y! So I went pink, sparkly and totally fun! I’m loving my Sparkly Hearts Pillow Cover!

I knew as soon as I started thinking about this project that I wanted to use some of the pink sparkly dot fabric I’ve had in my stash. I’ve used it before for accent hearts on zippy pouches and they always turned out adorable 🙂 What I wasn’t sure of going into this project is what I’d use for the base or background fabric. I hunted through my stash, tried a few different combos, and finally settled on this vintage grey wool I thrifted a few months ago.

Sparkly Pink Hearts on my valentines pillow cover.

I free-hand cut out hearts in a couple of different sizes 🙂 I played with the placement a bit, arranging and rearranging until I got it just the way I wanted. Pinned in place I started sewing them on. I liked the idea of adding some contrast, so I stitched in black, 1/8th of an inch from the edge of the heart.

I made this sparkly hearts pillow cover to fit a 14 inch pillow I already had on hand. I did a regular envelope pillow cover back. If you’re interested in make an envelope style pillow cover, Miss Lovie has a great tutorial in the post that was my original inspiration!

This Sparkly Hearts Pillow is my favorite new addition to our couch 🙂 Even the cats like it (even if I can’t get Bliss to actually look at the camera lol)… we’ll see what hubby says when he gets back from being on the road. I’m sure he’ll groan and ask why there’s more pink in his house *Giggles*

That is so cute! Though I think if I tried to free hand cut hearts they wouldn't be nearly so cute 🙂
