Small Things Saturday + #Giveaway

Time for another edition of Small Things Saturdays! This weekend I’ve got a little recap of my recent Quilting Retreat trip and a Movie Night giveaway!

First Up my 4 day Mini Vacation of the Local Quilting retreat was FAN-Flipping-Tastic! I had a blast and got 2 brand new quilt tops finished 😀

I finally got a chance to sew up my Nancy Drew Fabric charm pack. I added in some blue, black, red and yellow “concrete” print fabric that matched perfectly and then added boarders. I am hoping to actually finish this quilt today and tomorrow… *fingers crossed* This one will finish around a twin size and will be my reading/picnic/snuggle quilt 🙂

The other quilt I finished is a scrappy project of 3/5 inch squares. It was an exercise in patience and perseverance lol. I had all my 3.5 inch squares cut out and my Half Square Triangles sewn before I arrived at the retreat, but that was as far as I got. I had to figure out the layout, sew blocks together and then sew those blocks into the top. This design is GORGEOUS but a little time consuming and I spent the bulk of the retreat working on this project. I have one little boo-boo to fix where 2 of the squares got flipped the wrong way and then add a black boarder! I am seriously considering sending this one out to be professionally quilted. we’ll see what I decide once it is completely finished.

There were a few other creative breaks… A little coloring, a little wine drinking, lots of fun conversations with other passionate and talented quilters as well as a custom ordered patchy bear and a little stitching for one of the ladies there that needed a label for her quit project. It was so nice to get away for a few days and just be creative!
