Love a nice, long, hot bath at the end of the day? Me too! Especially when I add in one of these amazing and practically magical unicorn bath bombs!
I love love love a nice long, hot, steamy bath! Pretty sure I’ve said that before when talking about my other homemade bath bombs (here, here and here). And in the few weeks since I shared my most recent DIY beauty recipe, nothing’s changed.
Even though I live in Texas, and its currently the middle of summer, I still love relaxing in the tub at the end of a long day. For me, there’s no better way to unwind and let the craziness of the day melt away.
The perfect hot bath can always be enhanced with a little bath bomb love! And there are so many reasons to love these DIY magical unicorn bath bombs!
What make these bath bombs so magical?
Milk and Honey Epsom salts
Epsom Salts work wonders on sore muscles, help provide you body with magnesium, and promote a good nights sleep.
Cardamon Essential Oil
Not only does this essential oil smell yummy, its got a TON of health benefits! My favorite being the mood boosting qualities and antimicrobial properties.
Cedarwood Essential Oil
Another amazing smelling oil, cedarwood is used for a whole bunch of health benefits in aromatherapy. I love that it’s a known stress reducer!
Add in a little glitter, and voila! Bath time magic!

Magical Unicorn Bath Bombs Recipe:
Supplies:
- 2 cups baking soda
- 1 cup citric acid
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons bentonite clay
- 2 tablespoons Milk and Honey Epsom salts
- 1/3 cup coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon polysorbate 80
- 2 tablespoons cocoa butter
- 10-20 drops cardamom essential oil
- 10-20 drops cedarwood essential oil
- 1-2 tablespoons of purple, blue, pink, yellow & green mica colorant
- 1-2 teaspoons of white cosmetic glitter in each of the smaller bowls
- Stainless steel bath bomb molds
- Mini muffin tin (optional)
- Spray bottle filled with rubbing alcohol
- 1 large mixing bowl
- 5 small bowls
Directions:
Steps 1-6:
In a large mixing bowl, add the baking soda, bentonite clay, citric acid, Milk and Honey Epsom salts and cornstarch. Then whisk the dry ingredients together.
Steps 7-8:
Add the coconut oil. This binds all the ingredients together. Add in the cocoa butter. This not only helps bind everything together as well, but also moisturizes your skin.
Step 9:
Add the polysorbate 80. This helps the coconut oil disperse more evenly in your bath water, makes the bath bombs bubbly and prevents the mica from sticking to the side of the tub.
Steps 10-12:
Add the essential oils and glitter. Mix well. You may need to use your hands to break down any lumps and make sure everything is mixed in. The mixture is perfect when it holds together when you press it into your hands and feels like wet sand.
Steps 13-14:
Separate the mixture into the 5 smaller bowls. Mix in 1 in tablespoon of the purple mica in one, the blue in another, the yellow in one, the pink in one and green in the last bowl.
Steps 15-16:
Now, layer the mixture into each side your bath bomb mold until the mixture is slightly overflowing. Press molds together and grind gently to remove excess mixture. Gently tap each side of the mold to release the bombs.
Allow to dry a minimum of 24 hours and then store in an air tight container.
These magical unicorn bath bombs will be a hit with the kids, make a great gift, or hide them away for yourself! And when you’re in need of a little magical pampering, just toss one into the tub while you’re filling it with hot water!
Then just hop in the tub and enjoy!
