How to Survive the Holiday Season without Blowing the Diet!

While I am by no means an expert at this whole healthy living/dieting/losing weight thing, I have picked up a few tips and tricks along the way to becoming a healthier me! So just how do you survive the Holiday Season with out Blowing the Diet? Here’s 10 things that just might help you…

1. Never leave the house hungry!

Why you might ask? Well have you ever gone grocery shopping and bought everything in site because you were starving? I have. Will power goes out the window when you’re hungry. So do yourself a favor, and make some healthy choices before you leave the house.

2. Water, Water and more Water.

Even if you don’t like water! DRINK IT! Do I really need to elaborate?

3. Moderation

There is absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying yourself and some yummy food at the Christmas parties. But I know that I don’t need that third cookie. I might want it… really really want it, but I don’t NEED it! And because I was a good girl and had dinner before I left for the evening I have the strength to say NO! 😉

4. Be “That” person… and bring a healthy option.

IF you really can be “That” person, then bring 2 things! One healthy and one not-so-healthy. At least that way you’ll know there is something that is healthy and that you like.

5. Exercise.

Really? Just cause its the Holidays does not mean that I get to slack off going to the gym!  ’nuff said!

6. Just say NO

Come on! You can do it!

7. Don’t bring it home.

If it’s in my house, I WILL EAT IT! Therefore, I do not bring it home! Simple as that. 🙂

8. Cook/Bake with someone else!

I am much less likely to lick the cookie batter out of the bowl like a starving puppy if there is someone watching. Plus its more fun when there is another person to talk to and distract you from the deliciousness that you are creating!

9. Plan Ahead.

The big company Christmas party is tonight. Skip the cheeseburger and have a salad. Don’t forget to make time for the gym and then you can enjoy your evening guilt free!

10. Enjoy each moment

You went to the gym, you had a healthy lunch, ate a good snack before you left the house, your will power is strong and you are having that cheesecake for dessert! Go for it! Enjoy every morsel! What is the point of all the hard work if we can’t indulge every now and then. Just don’t eat the whole cheesecake! 😉

Well that’s my ten cents. So far I’ve been sticking to my game plan and I’m feeling pretty good 🙂 What are you doing this Holiday season to stay on track?

I really need to focus on the "moderation" and "exercise" portions of the above!
