How to Monetize Old Blog Posts

This post may contain affiliate or brand partner links. Read our full disclosure here.

You spent a lot of time writing your blog posts, but after several months, they are long-forgotten. Chances are that when you first started, you didn’t even have your blog monetized, so those first posts were just filler for your site.

4 Tips on How to Monetize Old Blog Posts - BusyBeingJennifer.com

You don’t have to let those old blog posts sit stagnant. They can be reused. Choose a day when it’s quiet, and reuse your old blog posts. You’ll save time from having to write new content for your site, and a little time and effort, you can monetize old blog posts. It’ll also give you a break from your usual routine, and give you something new to try.

How to Monetize Old Blog Posts:

Tip #1—Generate more ad income. You don’t need to delete your old posts. But you can go in and copy header, photos, and text, and paste it into a brand new blog post. Chances are that when you started out, you didn’t really know about proper SEO, or how to insert ads into your pages to generate income.

Now that you are knowledgeable about SEO, you can create your blog post with all the tools you have at hand. Target your ads to your blog post, and add your keywords. Don’t just insert your videos and photos. They should also include keywords in the title, description, and tags. Make it easy for Google, or other search engines to find your blog post topic. This means that more traffic is drawn to your site, and the chances are greater that your guests will click on your ads.

Tip #2—Create a newsletter, and use your old blog post topics for subjects. It’s like having half the work already done for you. Set up Mail Chimp or another newsletter signup app on your website, and start collecting email addresses. Send your newsletter to your list on a regular basis. A newsletter provides a valid source of information for your clients, and they’ll return to your website again and again for more information, hopefully to buy your products and services.

Tip #3—Create an E-book. Many people would love to read information in one convenient e-book, rather than navigating through pages and pages of content on your site. Gather all your old blog posts into an e-book, and offer it up for sale. Keep the initial cost reasonable. You can always increase it if you find you’re getting a lot of orders. Create a table of contents, and add plenty of links to content on your website, so you can draw traffic back there. Your potential customers will be from your readership, as well as the Mail Chimp app set up on your site to collect email addresses. Write blog posts to promote your new e-book and cross-promote.
