Homemade Salted Caramel Sauce!

This post may contain affiliate or brand partner links. Read our full disclosure here.

Words can not even begin to describe just how much I LOVE salted caramel! Its good on or in just about everything! I love it in my coffee, on my ice cream, on pancakes even with apples! There are TONS of options for baking with it… any dessert with salted caramel is delish in my books! I’ve been making my own for a while now… and after several requests, I’m sharing the recipe handed down from my Nana to my Mom and now to me 🙂

What you’ll need :

1/2 cup of white sugar
1/2 cup of brown sugar
2 Tablespoons of corn syrup (I use light)
4 Tablespoons of water
1/2 cup of heavy (or whipping) cream
2 Tablespoons of butter
1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon sea salt (kosher salt works too)

Combine the white and brown sugars, corn syrup and water in a medium-sized sauce pan. Stir together with a wooden spoon. Cover pan and cook on medium heat for 3 minutes.

Remove lid and increase heat to medium-high and bring to a boil. Swirl the sauce around in the pan (do not stir!) to keep from burning.

DO NOT LEAVE SAUCE UNSUPERVISED!

When the liquid starts to turn amber, reduce heat to low for 30 seconds. Then turn off completely.

Let cool for 30 seconds. Carefully pour heavy cream into liquid.

Add butter, salt and lemon. Stir until completely combined. Turn heat back on to medium.

Bring the sauce back up to a boil for 3 minutes. Remove pan from heat and allow to cool. Sauce will begin to thicken as it cools.

YUMMMMM!!!! Go now! Make this… everyone you feed it to will kiss you! 😉 My hubs is not a huge fan of caramel, but he LOVES this stuff 🙂 Enjoy!
