Growing up, Christmas was always a big deal in our home. I’m talking scrub-every-room, organize-every-toy, clean-every-nook-and-cranny kind of big deal, that started months in advance, and involved all 6 kids. If the whole house was clean and every single item was checked off the list holiday cleaning list, then, and ONLY then, could the festivities and fun could begin!

As an adult with a family and home of my own, not much has changed!

Ok, a few things have changed, I have dogs instead of kids, a fake tree instead of a real one, and I’ve learned some tricks to make all that holiday cleaning easier! You know, since I have to do it ALL myself now!

Holiday Cleaning Tricks:

Start at the Top and Work Your Way Down. – Dusting the shelves and any cobwebs (hey! I live in Texas! They pop up out of nowhere all the time!) first, means that any dust or dirt that falls to the floor will get taken care of when you get to that stage. +

Don’t Leave the Room until You’re Done! – Instead of taking one or 2 things at a time and putting them away in a another room (and running the risk of getting distracted), grab some empty baskets! Each basket can represent a room or floor of your home. As you’re tidying, place items that need to be delivered to other places in those baskets and do that at the very end of your cleaning.

Move the furniture. You might have to rearrange the furniture to find the right spot for the tree, but thats a good thing! If you’re going to do your holiday cleaning right, moving the furniture is a must! Dust the bast boards and vacuum under each piece as you go. This way there is less dirt and debris to get dragged back out (especially if you have pets that fit under the furniture!).

Get Sticky with it! As a fur-mom to short haired, shedding fiends, there is wiry little dog hairs EVERY WHERE! And these are not dog hairs that you can just vacuum out of fabric either. These dog hairs are STUBBORN The solution? Scotch-Brite™ 50% Stickier Lint Rollers!! Wiry Dog Hairs, Threads, people hairs, even glitter doesn’t stand a chance against this little rolling miracle!

I picked up some new lint rollers at Target, knowing that I was doing my Holiday Cleaning this week, and I just had to try these a try! The sticky power is AMAZING and I was quite surprised at just how much was captured!

Check out these lint rollers in action! They picked up SO MUCH ick when I tried them out on our living room couch!

And yes, I used a lint roller on the couch! Cause lets face it, nobody wants a guest sitting on a pile of puppy hair! Guest that get covered in wiry puppy hairs (that are ridiculously stubborn to remove) are unhappy guests!

Even if these are two of the cutest, most adorable dogs in the world 😀
