Hexi Quilt! #ImAddictedToQuilting

Thisย post may contain affiliate or brand partner links. Read our full disclosureย here.

In case you haven’t noticed, I have a bit of a quilting addiction. While I am not the fastest quilt-maker (quilter-er? quiltest?), I take pride in each of my creations. They’re kind of like my babies… a labor of love and they seem to develop their own “fabric personality”. My latest finished quilt definitely took on a personality all its own. My Hexi Quilt is fun, bright, colorful and just a little bit crazy ๐Ÿ™‚ Maybe a little bit like the person that created it? LOL. It’s easy to see that #ImAddictedToQuilting ๐Ÿ™‚

Hexi Quilt using the pattern from Quilt Sampler Magazine Fall and Winter 2012 By Busy Being Jennifer

I used the “Sew Hexagons by Machine pattern from the Fall/Winter 2012 Quilt Sampler Magazine. (You can get a digital copy here)ย Using the template provided I cut hexagons. Lots and lots and lots of hexagons. You can check out my progress here, here and here. Its finished and photographed and now I get to show it off! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hexi Quilt Close Up the back of the hexi quilt

I mentioned in my last Work In Progress update that I was frustrated with the backing. It puckered. ๐Ÿ™ You can see it here on the back of the quilt. I was kinda P.O.’d about it.

Other than the puckering that happened on the back, I LOVE everything about this quilt. It’s a large crib size (approx. 55 x 33 inches) and would be perfect for a play blanket ๐Ÿ™‚ I started cutting more hexi’s for another quilt last night ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m gonna try to stick to boy colors this time ๐Ÿ™‚

I was going to put this one in the shop, but when the backing got messed up I decided not too. I'm starting on another one though! SO that might go in the shop ๐Ÿ™‚

BEAUTIFUL! Do you quilt it by hand or do you have a quilting machine? I’m curious because I learned to hand quilt and that is fine for the piecing it together ,but it takes TOO LONG to the quilting step.

I do it all by machine. I'm a self taught quilter… I don't think I would have the patience to hand quilt. I would like to try it someday though ๐Ÿ™‚

I love this, Jennifer! I am going to add this to my quilting list to make one. I can just picture a baby laying on this and learning the colors.
