Fall Twig Frame Wreath

I love wreaths. Yup. LOVE. I don’t know if its the Texas heat seeping into my bones or if its the thrill of having my very own front door to decorate as I please, but my door just doesn’t look right if its not adorned to suit the season! It kind of looks nekkid without a wreath of some sort. But, I get bored easily, change wreaths often, and try to come up with something different than just a boring old circle. With fall coming, Its time to change things up again! I definitely wanted to get away from a round wreath form, so I gathered up a bunch of twigs to create this fun Fall Twig Frame Wreath!

With the help of my loyal hound, I collected a multitude of sticks and twigs, trimmed them down and created this frame using a hot glue gun and jute twine!

We started by searching the back yard for as many *mostly* straight sticks and twigs as we could find. Before we headed in to the house, we trimmed them down, cut off any odd bits and figured out which twigs would go where.

We laid out paper to protect the work surface and bound the twigs together in groups of three. Using the hot glue gun, dab glue where the sticks can touch/connect. Wrap  tightly with twine or string to secure.

Once all four sides are secured together, place in your frame shape and secure the corners by wrapping the jute twine around as tightly as possible. First in one direction and then in the opposite direction. Dab with glue for additional stability if desired.

We used this Pom Pom maker to make the Pom Poms in 5 colors – Olive, Cream Burnt Orange, Peach and Pale Peach. They’re strung on the same thin jute twine that the twig frame is wrapped with.

The fall pennant is 2.5 inch wide and 3 inch long triangles with “Fall” printed on them with sharpie marker and glued to more of the jute twine.

Wrap the pom poms around your frame and tie off. Add the Fall pennant and you’re ready to hang! I did notice that my twig frame seems to hang a bit off center, but that is where it balances best. I guess that is what happens when you’re creating with twigs!

Now I’m definitely in the mood to start Fall decorating! Do you think the hubby will notice or be annoyed when he comes home next week? Hehehe

When do you start decorating for fall??

This is so cute. I can't wait for fall. We haven't had a miserable summer this year though. It's been mild which has been great. I hope your having a great day!

That is adorable! I'm a biggie for front doors that beg to have a wreath, especially homemade (by me, I wish). That would be my dream, to have a country home with a pretty wooden front door to decorate – I'd love to make this wreath for it!

This is cute! I've been wanting to make a twig wreath. I think they're pretty, so maybe I should go outside and find some sticks!
