I made this amazing DIY Raspberry Lemonade Sugar Lip Scrub and now I’m addicted to exfoliating my lips and smelling fabulous!
A few years ago I discovered the wonderful world that is essential oils! There are a million and two (and probably more) reasons I love essential oils!
And there are at least that many ways to put them to practical use! I’ve made everything from my own laundry soap, to mood/energy boosting oil blends to skin care and beauty products!

I have to admit, that last category is probably my favorite! There are just so many amazing combinations and ways to use essential oils on and in your body when it comes to your beauty routine.
One of the very first DIY Beauty projects I tried was a sugar lip scrub… and since then I’ve been hooked!

I love coming up with “flavor” ideas and playing around with the process, not to mention the fantastic results! Who doesn’t love soft, kissable lips???

My latest flavor combination for a sugar lip scrub, is the stuff that summer dreams are made of! This Raspberry Lemonade sugar scrub concoction is Delicious with a capital D!
In fact its so good, I might be using it more often than necessary, just so I can lick my lips to get a taste!

What You Need to Make Your Own DIY Sugar Lip Scrub?
Here’s what you’ll need to make this homemade lip srcub:
- 2 teaspoons of white sugar (not brown sugar, that would be weird)
- 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons of coconut oil
- 2 drops lemon essential oil
- 1/2 package of raspberry lemonade drink mix (single serving packet) (this eliminates the need for food coloring and raspberry extract, but you could sub for those two things, if you wanted)
- small, air tight container to store it in.
How do You Make Raspberry Lemonade Sugar Lip Scrub:
In a small bowl, mix the sugar and drink mix together.
Add coconut oil and essential oil.
Mix well.
Store in air tight container for up to 4 weeks.
How Do You Use this DIY Sugar Lip Scrub?
Take a small amount of your sugar lip scrub recipe on your finger, rub all over your lips in a gently, but firm circular motion, knocking off dead skin and making your lips sweetly soft.
Lick or wipe off access.

Why should you exfoliate your lips with a sugar lip scrub like this?
Exfoliating and removing the dead and dry skin of your lips brings out new fresh layers, making lips soft, smooth and kissable!
Not to mention that a smooth lip “canvas” is important when it comes to your lip cosmetics! Lip exfoliation, with something like this homemade lip scrub, helps your lips retain moisture longer, and that will helping to prevent cracked lips!
Regular use of a sugar scrub recipe can help you avoid the effects of exposure to wind and cold, and chapped lips! The coconut oil provides instant moisture that will keep your lips soft and kissable too!
You could even make this in a MUCH larger batch and make a body scrub with some olive oil and honey–but that’s a recipe for another day.

With as often as I’ve been using this DIY Raspberry Lemonade Sugar Lip Scrub, I’m pretty sure I might have the softest lips on the planet!

I love this idea! I could really use any flavor, right?
for sure!! I think a regular lemonade or blueberry lemonade would be awesome!
What raspberry lemonade mix did you use?
Its the walmart brand single packs that you just add to a water bottle 🙂
I live in the U.K. Will “crystal light” be okay to use?
It should be! I’d make a small batch first to make sure the flavor is good. But I can’t imagine that it wouldn’t work 🙂
How much coconut oil did you use? It just says “1 to 1 1/2”. Also could I use lemon juice instead of essential oil? If so, would you use concentrated or fresh lemon juice and how much?
Its a teaspoon 🙂 And because this is a scrub and exfoliates, I’m going to say probably not to the lemon juice. The acid in the juice could hurt your lips.
It was pretty good! I think you should change it to brown sugar though. It would scrub a little more and make your lips smoother. Over all 6.5/10
love this!! Thank you for the idea! Just pinned. I have always been thinking about a sugar scrub. found you from linky party:)
So glad you share with us at Merry Monday. Pinned it so I can come back and make it.
Can’t wait to try this! I would like to make a larger batch to give as gifts. Why is it only good for 4 weeks?
I made this and love the smell but seems hard when it dries. Any suggestions?
Are you storing it in an air tight container? It shouldn’t ever really “dry”… its coconut oil. So maybe the oil is hardening due to the winter temperature? If its stored below 72 degrees, the coconut oil will harden 🙂
What if i use lemon extract? Will that be fine
It should work! Just check to make sure that its not too strong of a lemon flavor 🙂
I just LOVE sugar scrubs and this one sounds wonderful. Perfect for the summertime too. Pinned.
This sounds great. I’m confused though, since you didn’t mention melting the coconut oil. Usually when I make lip products, I melt my carrier oils first, then add essential oil or flavor oil and then pour the mixture into containers to let it cool. I love love love your idea of adding drink mix to your lip scrub.
Since its summer in Texas, melting the oil wasn’t neccessary, it was already quite soft, almost total liquid. Unless your oil is too hard to scoop out, you can soften it with out melting just by stirring and “kneeding” it with a spoon.
Sounds wonderful! I’ve never heard of a scrub for lips. Gotta try it! Thanks for sharing with SYC.

Thank you, I’ve been looking for a good lip scrub, and now I can make my own! So easy too!
This is the perfect time for me to find this! My lips have been super bleh lately thanks to all the cold and wind, i can’t wait to try a couple of these out!
What size container does this recipe fill? Also, how long is is it good for? Id like to give as a gift. It sounds delish. I think I’ll be making lemonade today🖤
It easily filled a one ounce container with a little left over. I imagine it should be good for a couple of months… mine didn’t last that long lol
This looks so good! What a great gift to make for friends or to enjoy yourself!
Thanks for sharing! Does it keep long?
