Y’all, I’ve got a TON of hair! For reals. Its paste my waist and rather thick. Its also a PAIN IN THE YOU KNOW WHAT to brush out after a shower. So I did a little digging and discovered the perfect way to combat all those tangles and add a little softness and shine. Plus this DIY Essential Oil Detangler also leaves my hair smelling amazing!
Essential Oil Detangler
Ingredients:
~1 Cup Water
~1/2 Cup Witch Hazel
~4-5 Drops Cedarwood Essential Oil
~4-5 Drops Lavender Essential oil
Directions: Place all ingredients in a spray bottle and shake well. Spray wet or dry hair prior to brushing.
Why Cedarwood and Lavender Oils?
Cedarwood has purifying properites, can have a calming effect and can help reduce oily secretions. And bonus! Its a pest repellent! Lavender is a universal oil that has more benefits that I have room to list 🙂 The mail reasons for including it in this essential oil detangler are the calming effects, the shine it brings to the table, the scent and it is also a pest repellent! Both of these essential oils are also known to help with hair loss! Plus those 10 drops of essential oils in this detangler is just the right amount to smooth out those tangles without making your hair greasy!
I borrowed a friends daughter so I could have some pictures of the process 🙂 She was a great sport… who usually balks at having her hair brushed. After a liberal spritz of the essential oil detangler, the comb slid through her hair “like buttah”! I’ve also started using this DIY essential oil detangler myself every time I shower and its never been easier to brush through ALL THIS HAIR after a shower 🙂

Oh wow! Never thought to use EOs for something like that! Good to know. I wish my hair would grow – any tips on that?!

This sounds nice. I’ve been experimenting with DIY concoctions with essential oils, and I would love to try this! I haven’t used witch hazel, so that is new to me.

I have so many oils and I had been having trouble with knots also. I plan to try your potion. LOL. I also had to remove the hard water mineral deposits from my hair to really be less knotty.

This is a great tip! I will be making some of this soon because my oldest daughters hair always has snarls in it and I dread using store bought products to help!
