I love sprucing up my home with fun pops of fall color! What better way to bring in a little fall-ish color than some candy corn pillows!
These adorable, tri-colored pillows are super easy to sew and make up very quickly!
Aren’t they adorable? Don’t you want to just sew up your own?
All you need to make your own candy corn pillows is some fabric scraps, a sewing machine and some stuffing 🙂
Here’s what you need to make your candy corn pillows:
2 of each: White, yellow and orange scrap fabrics 6 inches wide and at least 8″ long for the white, 12″ for the yellow and 16″ for the orange.
Sewing Machine
White Thread
Sewing Needle
Scissors
Pillow Stuffing / Poly-fil
Here’s how you make your own candy corn pillows:
We begin by sewing your strips of scrap fabric together. White on top, yellow in the middle, orange on the bottom. (Yes the color order reminder is necessary – I messed up my first pillow! lol)
If the scrap strips are different lengths, be sure to center the shorter on the longer one. Repeat for the second side. We’re aiming for a curvy triangle shape when trimmed.
Next we’ll fold one of the sewing together pieces in half. Pin the seams on top of each other to hold them in place.
Now we shape the fabric piece into a “candy corn” – Basically a triangle with very round corners.
Lay the shaped piece, patterned side down, on top of the second piece. Match up the seams and pin in place.
Starting at the bottom of your inside our candy corn pillow, stitch a 1/4 inch seam around the shaped piece, leaving a 2-3 inch gap for turning and stuffing.
Trim and turn right side out.
Now, stuff your candy corn pillow and stitch the bottom hole closed!
And you’re done!
Add your candy corn pillows to your couch, front porch, or anywhere else you could use a little fall flair and squishy comfort!
Whats your favorite way to add some fall color to your home?
