It’s no secret that I move farmhouse decor AND buffalo plaid. So to start to start off my Homemade Ornaments week, I’m starting with this charming and easy Buffalo Check Ball Ornament!
I love the fresh clean farmhouse look of buffalo check year round but I also love incorporating it into my Christmas decorating! Just like this Buffalo Check Ball Ornament.
Whether you have a bunch of plain glass/plastic ornaments lying around or ugly scratched up ones from years ago that you don’t want to throw out this is a great diy to give them an update.
This is a great way to use up not only old christmas ball ornaments but also scraps of fabric. I have a lot of buffalo check flannel on hand from various projects and sometimes the scraps are not really enough to do a lot with.
But they are the perfect size for wrapping ball ornaments with!
To make your own Buffalo Check Ball Ornament, you’ll need:
- Buffalo check fabric-cotton or flannel
- Christmas ball ornament
- Twine
- Greenery
- Hot glue gun/sticks
How to make this easy Christmas ornament:
Wrap your fabric (the size you’ll need will depend on the size of your ornament) around the ball to make sure you have enough, pull all the ends up to the hanging part or “neck” of the ornament.
Secure with hot glue. If your ornament is plastic place the glue on the fabric rather than touching the plastic with the hot tip of the gun.
Wrap your fabric tightly at the “neck” of the ornament with twine. Trim excess fabric at the top to make it even.
Finally, add a little something to give it some personality, like a charm that dangles or pieces of greenery and winter berries! Fasten them down with hot glue for some extra visual charm.
Now, you just need to add a hanger and your ornament is ready to be added to your tree!
And what a pretty tree it would be with a dozen or two of these cute Buffalo Check Ball Ornaments!
