And the Survey Says…

This post may contain affiliate or brand partner links. Read our full disclosure here.

A couple of weeks ago I asked for your help with my reader survey. I’m dreaming and planning awesome things for 2014 and wanted to make sure I was headed in the right direction 🙂 Seems like I am so far 🙂 I promised to share the results, so here they are…

Stay up to date...

A large majority of you seem to prefer Bloglovin and Facebook for keeping up on your favorite blogs. I’m going to have to up my facebook game… even though I have over 2300 FB followers, less than 100 people are seeing updates on average. *Sigh* Facebook drives me a little bit crazy.

Readers Age Ranges:

#1. 30 – 39 -> 40%
#2. 20 – 29 -> 36%
#3 40 – 49 -> 12%

The average blog reader spends between 2 to 2.5 hours reading their favorite blogs each day.

68% of readers read on their laptop or personal computer.

type of posts

I was actually a little surprised by the results of this question. I was expecting DIY and Tutorials to be high on the list, but I wasn’t expecting there to be so many people interested in my life. I know I’m a “lifestyle” blogger, but I feel like I lead a rather boring life, and thought no one would be interested. Guess I was wrong! 🙂 So you can expect to see a little bit more of my boring, average life 😉

Some of my favorite comments…

About giveaways:

“Love them, unless they have you jump through a bajillion rafflecopter hoops to follow 27 people on all their social media for a bar of soap or something, lol. Yours is just right- one person, follow on social media, a comment or two, a great prizes- fantastic! :)”

“I just hate when there are like a million requirements to enter the giveaway!”

About what you enjoy when visiting BusyBeingJennifer.com:

“Lots of craft inspiration; the kittens”

“I just love reading about life!! Everyone’s is different, and I love reading about yours.”

“Well the kitties are absolutely adorable! I like the crafting & life aspects of crafting (doing fairs, etc), but also the home life info. My favorite posts of the last few weeks have been the fabric organization ideas & the christmas scrappy quilt.”

“I love that you have a great mix of topics.I really love all of your tutorials,especially the washi tape cards post.Also,your blog is nice to look at. Some blogs are waaaay too busy and look sloppy.Yours is super easy to navigate and just awesome overall.”

Favorite Comments from the “Tell Me Anything” section at the end of the survey:

“Love your story, and that you are a coffee lover. Always excited to see a Starbucks giveaway. 🙂 I’m an aspiring to crochet and do more DIY, your blog is a help.”

“I think your doing a great job!! I love that you are real and let us know what’s going on in your life whether it is good or bad. Love the crafts you do. Also, I’m in awe of your beautiful quilts!!”

“Most blogs I have come across are crowded with so much ads and huge photos on the side. I love to finally see a blog that is neat, clean and modern! Makes me want to read it much more!”

” …its really is set up very well. You blog often and consistently, and on a variety of subjects (love that!). Your blog has the appearance of being a fun, inviting place to be. It has just the right amount of “stuff” on it- it’s got enough links and buttons and ads, etc., to be eye-catching and interesting without looking disorderly or overwhelming- and that’s a very hard balance to achieve, in my opinion. I struggle with that on my blog- I’m never quite sure if I have too much or not enough.”

Ya’ll are gonna give me a big head! It’s nice to get feedback on my design 🙂 I’ve struggled with what is enough and what is too much. Hearing from some of you that I’ve got a good balance and my site is easy to navigate really, really makes me happy 🙂

If you filled out my little survey, I just wanna say thanks! Your feedback really means a lot to me 🙂

      The amount of people using facebook surprised me too! Especially considering how hit and miss seeing updates can be!

    Facebook drives me BONKERS! Just over the past week it has changed drastically. If someone liked or commented on my post 2 weeks ago I would get over 100 views on it, this past week I still only got like 30-40! Gah!

    I would have to agree that I probably keep up with blogs more on fb because I'm on there quite a bit but as a blogger trying to make fb work I despise it. Ugh!

    Wow…interesting to see how many people use Bloglovin and Facebook to stay up to date on their favorite blogs. I don't even have a facebook presence on some of my blogs. Good to know!

    Very interesting. My "more mature" readers only follow via Facebook. Many don't understand there are other ways:))

    I just can't bring myself to get into twitter…. I just don't use it. I never log in. I only use it for those followers of mine that want me to tweet.

    I agree with a lot of those comments. I hate giveaways that require a lot of entries in order to enter and I love how uncluttered your blog is.

    Maybe you should be a blog layout designer or consultant or something? It sounds like you’re spot on with your readership. 🙂
