A Little Boys Hexi Quilt

ThisΒ post may contain affiliate or brand partner links. Read our full disclosureΒ here.

If you follow me on instagram, you would have seen bits and pieces from the little boy baby shower I was at last week πŸ™‚ My good friends and Pastors, are adopting and are less than TWO weeks away from getting their little man! I’ve gone a little nuts making ALL THE BOY THINGS! And its been a fun change from the girly things that I’ve been making lately. The first thing I had to make was a quilt… obviously πŸ˜‰

I’ve slowly been stocking up on little boy fabrics when ever I come across them, with no real purpose. I just knew I’d need them at some point πŸ™‚ I found out about the shower a little late… I only had 4 days notice, so I went with something I knew I could whip up fairly quickly!

It took me a good part of Saturday, but this fun little quilt came together pretty quickly once I got started. I used a vintage blue and cream plaid for the edging and a vintage white and light blue striped for the binding. I had just enough grey knit to use as the backing. Its nice and soft and perfect for a little baby πŸ™‚

The Adoptive-Mom-to-Be loved the quilt! She thought it was very masculine and perfect for her little boy πŸ™‚ That made me very happy! There were a few other goodies that went in the gift, I’ll be sharing more about those next week πŸ™‚

What is the best baby gift you’ve ever given or received?

Oh my goodness, that is so beautiful! I was so touched by all the people who took time to hand make gifts for us when we adopted our little boy. It was such an amazing experience and all the heartfelt gifts just added to it. I'm sure they'll love it!!

You did a fantastic job with this quilt!! I have saved all my boys clothes from when they were really little so that I could make something like this one day. You make me want to go ahead and start!! πŸ™‚

Jennifer, I love this quilt SO much! I used to quilt a *little* bit, but not ever to the extent that I wanted to. I really, really like the larger hexagonals; I think the tiny ones would make me crazy. You did such a beautiful job, and I love that it's for a gift. What a thoughtful person you are. ♥

I need a good, easy, basic tutorial for finishing a quilt- putting the layers together and binding. Any recommendations?

I am pinning this to inspire me! πŸ˜€

That is absolutely gorgeous! I've made a few quilts, but I just can't seem to get the time I need to finish one and I get distracted too quickly. LOL

I love this quilt! I don't think I've ever finished a quilt that quickly; I am impressed. The dinosaur fabric is just the best for a little boy. Great job!
