Fall is no doubt the most gorgeous and festive season you will encounter in the state of Michigan. To forget a long, hard work week, you might enjoy taking a hike through a colored-forest, or a leisurely scenic drive along the shores of Lake Michigan enjoying some of the best fall foliage.

It’s also the time of year Michigan relishes in fall festivals, pumpkin patches, corn mazes and the smell of hot apple cider on a cold night. Here are some places and events to do this fall in Michigan that should be on everyone’s bucket list.

Fall Bucket List for Michigan:

Wine Tasting at St. Julians

Plan on a therapeutic and scenic drive through Michigan on a cool fall weekend to the small town of Paw Paw. There you will find some of the best winemakers in the midwest. St. Julian’s Winery has many delicious wines and juices that you can sample and stock up on.

Gorgeous Hiking Trails in Autumn

It’s no secret that Michigan is known for its great hiking trails, and fall is the best time to explore them. You don’t have to worry about the hot temperatures and the annoying bugs, while the colors are just absolutely stunning. We recommend you hop on the North Country Trail that’s over 4,600 miles long, and travels through 8 states.

Catch a Game with the Boys of Fall

Michigan is a state that is passionate about football. Whether you’re a Wolverine or a Spartan, or perhaps enjoy Sunday football with the Lions, there are so many fall matchups that will get your family hyped up, cheering on your favorite team.

Camp out at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

While there are so many great campgrounds in Michigan that we could mention, camping out at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore would have to be one of our favorites. The rocky cliffs on the seashore covered in fall leaves are just breath-taking. (Pictured rocks fall)

Oktoberfest Celebrations

The city of Frankenmuth draws in visitors no matter what time of year it is. Yet during the fall, they put on an Oktoberfest festival that’s jam-packed with German food, beer, and competitive games. Bell’s Brewery, in the town of Ludington, is another place to visit for an Oktoberfest celebration. If you live in the area, you know their beer is already top-notch, so you’ll want to make sure this downtown event is on your calendar.

Pumpkin Patches

You can’t go all throughout the fall without visiting a pumpkin patch with your family. Pumpkin patches not only have fields of pumpkins waiting to be picked, but there are so many games, activities, and yummy fall-time foods and spiced-cider to enjoy. Here are several farms scattered all throughout Michigan that is family-friendly. Country Mill Farms, The Wild Pumpkin, Harvest Moon Acres, and GullMeadow Farms.

Michigan Apple Orchards

One of the best states to go apple picking in the fall would be, you guessed it; Michigan. There’s a number of wonderful places to pick a basket of apples this fall. Just to list a few, Jollay Orchards, Crane Orchards U-Pick and Corn Maze, and Wiard’s Orchards Country Store are all orchards that provide great entertainment and fun for the whole family.

These are a number of things for you to have on your bucket list, that provides entertainment, beauty, and a happy tummy. One more thing before you head out, don’t forget to have your car serviced at the local dealership BEFORE you leave to complete your fall bucket list for Michigan.

If you live in Michigan, what other activities and places to visit do you enjoy in the fall with your family?
