101 Handmade Days: Patriotic Star Bunting

Can you believe that June is already half over and we’re almost to July??? I seem to constantly wondering where all the time is going! I’m pretty excited that its almost 4th of July time! Hubby might actually be home this year! And that means a cook out and fire works and lots of Red, White & Blue decorations! I’m getting a little bit of a head start on the decor with this fun and EASY Patriotic Star Bunting!

Isn’t it adorable?? And it really only takes a few minutes to put together! All you need is felt stars (or felt to cut your own), a sewing machine and white thread.

I am the worlds WORST when it comes to drawing or cutting stars. Seriously… they never, ever turn out right… so for this project I took the pressure off and grabbed these darling 1 inch felt-fetti stars from Benzie Design on Etsy! They do all the hard cutting work and ship you the stars in just a few days! I got mine in less than a week 🙂

Once you’ve got your stars all ready, all that you have to do is straight stitch through them, leaving a gap between each star. I lined up several stars in the order that I wanted and fed them through the sewing machine. Because these stars are only 1 inch in diameter, the can be a little challenging to feed through straight. It might just be my antique of a sewing machine, but they kept wanting to sew a little wonky.

I told you this Patriotic Star Bunting was easy! And I’ve still got some of these fun Felt-Fetti stars to play with – $9 gets you 140 1 inch stars – so you can expect to see them again in the next week or 2 as I go Red, White and Blue crazy 😀

Red, White and Blue never looked so cute! Check out this Patriotic Star Bunting! #101HandmadeDays

What a great idea! If I’m going to do a seasonal craft, it has to be simple like this! Now to get my sewing machine fixed… sigh! Thanks for sharing this tutorial with us! 🙂
