Lately I have spent every spare moment working on this project. It seems like its taken me forever, but in reality its been about 20ish hours in the past 3 weeks. But every moment and every stitch was worth it! (Slight picture overload…)

The “Front” seems almost ruffled due to the fact that the rows are woven in from behind. It gives is a wonderful textured feeling that you don’t get in an average crochet stitch.

The “Back” side is just as appealing and has more of a diamond shape to the rows.

It is just as warm, soft and cuddly as it looks 🙂

I found the pattern on Make-Handmade.com, thank goodness it comes with a video tutorial! I don’t know that I would have been able to figure this one out from a standard written pattern.

The only problem I had with the tutorial is that it didn’t include directions for switching yarn colors. So I had to figure it out, but that makes your life a little easier now doesn’t it 😉 If you are considering tackling this project, be sure to watch the video… otherwise these directions won’t make much sense 🙂

My version of how to add a new color…

Using your chosen crochet hook make a slip loop in the new yarn you want to start the next row with.

100_0382-1

On the 4th (from the middle slip stich) of the second “Bump

100_0383-1

From behind, add a slip stich to the 4th triple crochet.

100_0386

Then chain 3 more.

100_0387

Continue on following the directions from the video.

100_0389

Once you’ve made it all the way around, you will be working the final stiches of that row into the same triple crochet as you started with. It will be a tad more bulky than the rest of the stiches, but not noticeable once completed.

I’m not sure where this baby blanket will end up… I’m torn between keeping it to use as photography prop for myself or selling it on etsy…. What do you think?

This is stunning! My grandmother was a wonderful crocheter and knitter, and when I miss her all I have to do is pick up some yarn 🙂 I dont think my skills are good enough for something like this, yet! Glad I found you on Mingle With Us Blog Hop 🙂
