I LOVE finding fun and colorful ways to add more essential oils into my daily routine! Now that summer is here, I find my skin craving more heathy moisture, espeically my legs after shaving.
This fun Whipped Unicorn Body Butter not only feels great and is packed with all kinds of skin pleasing natural moistures, it also smells DIVINE!
And if you’re at all into the idea of having smooth skin on your hands after washing them constantly…well, you’re not going to find a more fun way to make sure you’re baby soft.
Plus, it protects the skin cells and helps keep you from getting dried out to start with.
So, grab your favorite jar and let’s get to making some fun unicorn whipped body butter to make that dry skin whole again!
Whipped Unicorn Body Butter Key Ingredients…
- ½ c. Shea butter
- ¼ c. Coconut oil
- ¼ c. Fractionated coconut oil
- Mica powder coloring in blue, green, yellow, pink and purple
- 15 drops Ylang Ylang essential oil
- 15 drops Orange essential oil
- 15 drops Lemon essential oil
Optional: Chia seed oil, cocoa butter or other similar ingredients with antioxidant properties.
Whipped Unicorn Body Butter Instructions…
Begin by placing the shea butter into a metal mixing bowl or small pot.
Add ¼ cup of coconut oil to the bowl or pot.
Pour in ¼ cup of the fractionated coconut oil to the bowl or pot. You can substitute this oil with another fractionated oil of your choosing such as sweet almond, jojoba, etc.
Place the metal mixing bowl or small pot into a double boiler on the stove top over medium heat, and cook until the mixture has melted completely.
Remove the mixture from the heat, and add in 15 drops of each essential oil – Ylang Ylang, Orange, and Lemon.
Of course, you can use any scents you want, but this is just the combination I liked. Today. I mean, it changes all the time for me. LOL!
Stir the mixture well, and place into the fridge to set.
After 15 minutes, check your mixture. You want it to reach a point where the mixture is opaque, with a semi-solid surface.
If it is not ready, place it back into the fridge and check it every 5-10 minutes. Alternatively, you can leave it out on a counter to let the process happen at room temperature if you prefer.

When your mixture has reached the right consistency, use a stand mixer to beat it on high until it forms stiff peaks. This can happen quickly, or it can take up to 10 minutes. If it does not whip into stiff peaks, then you did not let it set long enough before trying to mix it.
Once the mixture has been whipped, separate it into several small bowls.
Pour a little of the different colored mica powders into each bowl, and stir well to combine, until you get your desired colors.
Now I wanted pastel colors, but at the end of the day, you can have super bright rainbow colors or super pale ones. It’s totally up to you–this is your body butter we’re talking about!
Layer the different colors of whipped body butter into a pastry bag or other icing tool, and pipe it into your containers.
Store your body butter at a cool room temperature or in the fridge until ready to use.
I particularly like keeping it in the fridge because then it’s nice and cold on my legs in the summer when it’s all hot and sticky outside…makes a really nice contrast.
This Whipped Unicorn Body Butter recipe takes only a few hours from start to finish, and makes a great gift! I love mixing this up for a little pampering and at home spa time!
Make sure you store your Whipped Unicorn Body Butter in an air tight container and in a cool place or the fridge in between uses to make it last longer!
When was the last time you made your own body butter?
