The Alamo
I mentioned earlier that The Alamo was one of the reasons San Antonio is so popular and it’s true! Originally known as Misión San Antonio de Valero, it’s an important part of Texas history. It was the site of the Battle of the Alamo, which occurred in 1836. It’s an amazing site that offers tons of history and it’s worth checking out.
San Antonio Missions National Historical Park
If learning about history is your thing, then you’re going to love the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park. You can come down here on a sunny day and spend the whole day learning. This is one of five of the missions preserved by UNESCO World Heritage site. When you’re in San Antonio, make sure you give this historical park a looksee.
Natural Bridge Cavern
You already know that San Antonio is going to have some really cool attractions to check out, like the Natural Bridge Cavern. The Natural Bridge Caverns is a limestone slab bridge that is in the cavern’s entrance. This cavern has several different geological formations to check out, as well as unique speleothems. If you get the chance, don’t miss out on this natural beauty.
Friedrich Wilderness Park
When you want to spend some time in the outdoors in San Antonio, Texas, you’ll want to hit up Friedrich Wilderness Park. This park is known for its beauty and history. Norma Friedrick was the first to donate land to this park and Glen Martin and Wilbur Matthews followed suit. The park opened in 1978 and has been a local staple of San Antonio ever since.
