Topped with marshmellows and chocolate sauce or whip cream and cinnamon, there is no wrong way to top this delicioius Sweet and Spciy Mexican Hot Chocolate!

Sometimes a girl just needs a piping hot mug of something a littly sweet and a little spicy. With this cooler weather we’ve been having, I find myself craving my favorite mexican hot chocolate recipe more and more!

This Sweet and Spciy Mexican Hot Chocolate may take a little longer to make than a standard powder mix, it is worth the time and effort, and really isn’t that much harder to create… it just requires more stirring!

Sweet and Spciy Mexican Hot Chocolate Ingredients:

2 c milk

8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chunked

1 c heavy whipping cream

1 tsp cinnamon

Pinch of nutmeg

1 tsp chili powder

Optional Toppings:

Whipped Cream

Milk Chocolate, shaved

Cinnamon

Marshmallows

Chocolate Syrup

Marshmallow Cream

Sweet and Spciy Mexican Hot Chocolate Directions:

Combine milk and chocolate in a sauce pan over medium low heat (this is a slow process and cannot be rushed or the chocolate will seize up), stir continuously.

Once chocolate is fully melted, increase heat to medium and add in whipping cream, cinnamon, nutmeg and chili powder.

Simmer for 5 minutes until hot or until desired thickness is achieved.

Pour into mugs and top with topping of choice.

Topped with marshmellows and chocolate sauce or whip cream and cinnamon, there is no wrong way to top this delicioius Sweet and Spciy Mexican Hot Chocolate!

Personally, I’m a big fan of whip cream with a little cinnamon sprinkled on top, or the mini sized marshmallows with a little chocoalte sauce srizzled on top. But honestly, there is no wrong way to top this delicioius Sweet and Spciy Mexican Hot Chocolate!

Most nights you’ll find me sipping some hot chocolate and typing away on my laptop with a pup on each side of me and the cat curled up on the couch back behind me. Its basically my version of heaven in these cooler months 🙂

Once you’ve tried home made hot chocolate you’ll never go back to the “powdered form”.I’ve been wanting to try a Mexican variety and now I have a recipe. Thanks for coming to Fiesta Friday and sharing with Angie and the J Crew 🙂
