Support Local Businesses As You Prepare to Throw a New Year’s Party

Everyone’s waiting for the new year with bated breath, so it follows that you’re probably planning to throw a New Year’s party. Whatever your lifestyle is, you can throw a party that will leave you and your friends with great memories. Let’s look at four ways in which you can support local businesses as you prepare to throw a New Year’s party so you can make a difference in your community while crossing over into the new year memorably.

Decorate With Locally Available Decorations

With almost 28 million small businesses in the U.S., you can bet that a good number of them deal with handmade goods. With this in mind, you can try to source for local decorations from the small businesses near you.

The creative minds behind these small businesses will be sure to have a variety of options available for your choice of aesthetics. Shop online because most of these businesses will most likely have websites and pages on social media, and you will be happy you did so when your house is adorned in unique decor for the new year.

Buy Local Food

A party cannot be complete without some special cocktails, food, appetizers, and that’s why you need to make sure you have enough to sip and munch on for your New Year’s party. Shop from your local small businesses, and you may actually find some quality appetizers and foods that may be missing from large stores and grocery outlets.

If your neighborhood has a community farm or they hold a sale of local produce and it’s around this time, you can get all the produce you need easily and efficiently. You will be able to get the specific produce you need while making a difference to the small business you patronize.

Attend a Local Event

If you would rather have your New Year’s party elsewhere rather than at your home, you can go out but keep it local. There will likely be a lot of people having an event or two at their businesses, so find out in advance what your guests would like and then spend the last day of this year there. Just keep in mind that in order for people to have enough elbow room, there should be a space of at least 10 inches between every guest.

Find out how many people will be attending the party and find a place that can comfortably host all of them. You may find a local bar hosting a New Year’s karaoke night or a singles night you and your friends can attend!

Find Deals in Your Area

For an amazing New Year’s party, you can start shopping early and look for deals in your area that will enable you to make some savings. These services could be for a number of things, from your DJ and the music you play at your party to your garbage disposal, as parties are notorious for generating trash.

With the U.S. being the number one trash-producer globally, you can make a difference by recycling where possible and finding a local trash solution for the garbage you can’t recycle or compost. This will make a big difference in the way you clean up after crossing over into the new year, and you will have it easy when it’s done by a local company, too.

The four suggestions above should help you find a way to give back to your community as you cross from this year to the next one. Give them some consideration and you will have an amazing party that may end up being the foundation for a lifelong relationship with the small businesses in your area.
