Looking for the perfect gift for your loved ones? Gifts in a Jar are the way to go! And this Spicy Friendship Soup Gift in a Jar is a fantastic idea, especially during the holiday season.
Confession: I have a deep love for gifts in a jar. It’s true.
I absolutely adore giving them as presents, and I’ll let you in on a secret – I also love receiving them! There’s just something about filling a jar with goodies, adding a bow and maybe a cute tag, and voila! It’s a complete gift. Maybe it’s the simplicity and practicality that draws me in. And the best part? Even after enjoying the amazing contents, you still have a handy jar!
Spicy Friendship Soup Gift in a Jar Ingredients:
- 2 cups Hambeen’s Dry Bean Soup Mix
- 2 cups of Neilly’s Zesty Rice and Red Beans Mix
- 2 cups small dried pasta (I used ditalini)
- 1/2 cup beef bouillon powder
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasonings
- 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
- 2 tablespoons dried parsley
- 1/4 cup dried onion flakes
- 1/4 cup Cajun or taco seasoning
- 1 large mason jar [This recipe will fill one 32-ounce mason jar or two 16-ounce mason jars.]
Spicy Friendship Soup Gift in a Jar Directions:
You can layer your ingredients in any order you like. I wanted to make mine an even layering between the bean mixture, rice and beans, pasta and spices. Here is how I layered mine:
- 1/2 cup pasta
- 1/2 cup Neilly’s Zesty Rice and Red Beans Mix
- Cajun seasoning
- 1/2 cup Hambeen’s Bean Mix
- 1/2 cup pasta
- 1/2 cup Neilly’s Zesty Rice and Red Beans Mix
- Beef bullion
- 1/2 cup Hambeen’s Bean Mix
- 1/4 cup pasta
- 1/4 cup Neilly’s Zesty Rice and Red Beans Mix
- Dried onion flakes
- 1/4 cup Hambeen’s Bean Mix
- Mix together the Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes and parsley and add to the jar. If you have more room at the top add whatever ingredient you like!
Soup preparation:
In your Instant Pot: If you want to add beef or chicken, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 pound of ground beef or 1-pound boneless chicken cut into cubes and set Instant Pot to Sauté. Brown meat or chicken until no longer pink. Drain grease and return to slow cooker. Add ingredients from jar into your Instant Pot. Add enough water to cover ingredients. If you like, you can add one can of diced tomatoes, 1 tablespoon of tomato paste. Set Instant Pot to high pressure and set for 10 minutes. Allow to release pressure naturally. If pasta is not done to your liking, Set timer to high pressure for an additional 3 minutes.
In your Slow Cooker: If you want to add beef or chicken: add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 pound of ground beef or 1-pound boneless chicken cut into cubes. Brown meat or chicken in a large pan until no longer pink. Drain grease and return to slow cooker. Add ingredients from jar into your Slow Cooker. Add enough water to cover ingredients. If you like, you can add one can of diced tomatoes, 1 tablespoon of tomato paste. Set Slow Cooker on low for 5-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours. If pasta is not done to your liking, Set timer to high pressure for an additional 30 minutes.
In a large stock pot: Separate the pasta in the mason jar. Add water to pot and add pasta when water comes to a boil. Cook pasta for 7 minutes and drain. If you want to add beef or chicken: add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 pound of ground beef or 1-pound boneless chicken cut into cubes. Brown meat or chicken in pot until no longer pink. Drain grease and return to pot. Add ingredients remaining ingredients from jar and the pasta into your pan Add enough water to cover ingredients. If you like, you can add one can of diced tomatoes, 1 tablespoon of tomato paste. Simmer on medium low for 45-60 minutes.

@tisonlyme143
This is a great idea and would make a nice Christmas gift.
How much is the cost of supplies for this project? Like to make them in bulk, like say, 10 or so? I can imagine that maybe the dry supply cost adds up but not sure with those quantities. Thanks! They look awesome. I had a really good idea for coworkers but now it’s not available so I’m looking for an alternative
Yeah I’d say 10ish. Something were already on hand. But if you’ve got a bulk foods store and plan on doing several, you could probably cut the cost some 🙂
