September Literary Junkies Review

ThisĀ post may contain affiliate or brand partner links. Read our full disclosureĀ here.

I’ve missed a couple of the past months Literary Junkies link ups, but I’m on the ball for September!
Literary Junkies Monthly Link Up
1. What are you reading right now? Tell us about it. I’ve been SO busy the past 3 weeks that I haven’t had time to do any reading. So sad šŸ™ But I’ll have a little down time this weekend when we’re at Antique Alley! I’m bring a couple of Nancy Drew’s and a Clive Cussler Novel.
2. There are a ton of movies coming out soon that were based off of books. Are there any you’re particularly excited to see?Ā I haven’t read the book yet, but I really want to seeĀ “The Fault in Our Stars”… I suppose that means that I’ll need to read that book too.Ā
3. With fall finally here for some of us, are there any books that you’re particularly looking forward to reading in the season of big sweaters, blankets and hot chocolate?Ā I want to readĀ The Paying GuestsĀ by Sarah Waters and Ā Mermaids in ParadiseĀ by Lydia Millet. There is nothing better than a good book, and old quilt and a mug of something warm. I can’t wait for a “Day off” to just read to my hearts content!
4. We only have 3.5 months left of 2014. Did you participate in any reading challenges? How are you doing?Ā No reading challenges for me. I think I’d like to join one in 2015 or at least set a a reading goal for 2015… maybe challenge myself to read a few more classics.Ā
5. What has been the best book you’ve read so far this year?Ā So far this year, my favorite book has been Crescent Dawn by Clive Cussler. Its a fictional action adventure book that dives into the Ottoman Empire and a treasure hunt. I love ALL the Dirk Pitt novels!!Ā
Your Turn! What are you reading right now?

I really need to get on the ball with my reading too. I used to be so much better and read a few books a month. I don't know what happened!

I always have about three books that I'm working on at one time. Right now, I'm working my way back through my home library.

I love to read. Right now I'm reading Tana French's new book, The Secret Place. It's a murder mystery and, while it's taken me about 100 pages to finally get interested, now I don't want to put it down. This is the first book of hers I've read. I haven't read any Clive Cussler books but after reading your post, I'll have to check them out. Thanks!

I am reading Herman Koch's The Dinner right now. Great read. There's an interesting story in the WSJ this morning how reading is so good for you, allowing you to disconnect, recharge and stimulate brain neurons.

I went and downloaded all of the free classics on my kindle the other day and started reading Oliver Twist. I read the Great Gatsby and Tess of the d'Urbervilles. If you have a kindle I highly recommend downloaded all the great free books they have šŸ™‚

I think I need to join a book club or book challenge or something because I DON'T MAKE TIME TO READ. And I miss it. This was a great reminder.

Are you reading the original Nancy Drew books? I love those! I used to save them for summers and tear through them SO fast as soon as I had a chance.

I am!! I had almost the entire series when I was a teenager… but they got lost along the way to adulthood. *Sad Face* Now I'm trying to collect them again šŸ˜€
