This rolled fabric rose farmhouse wreath is so easy and fun to make, I could do one for every holiday!
Confession time! The last couple of months have been SO BUSY that I completely forgot I had a valentines wreath on the front door since January! Opps!! So this weekend I remedied that with this Rolled Fabric Rose Farmhouse Wreath!
And I am in LOVE! This Rolled Fabric Rose Farmhouse Wreath was sort of a spur of the moment idea… you know the kind that comes when your first idea doesn’t pan out and looks like the worst kind of pinterest fail. So I tossed it in the trash, and inspiration struck!
I have a definite obsession with “low volume” fabrics, and have gathered a decent collection of favorites that I use for various quilt projects (one coming soon!) So I had a pretty solid variety for a good mix.
Here’s how I made this Rolled Fabric Rose Farmhouse Wreath…
Supplies:
- Wreath Form
- Low Volume Fabrics (5 varieties from my stash) option from etsy
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Scissors
- Burlap and Lace Ribbon
Rolled Fabric Rose Instructions:
Cut a strip of fabric about 2.5″ and the length of your fabric. Tie a knot in one end and trim off the end close to the knot.
Flatten the knot as much as possible, then tuck the knot back on its self and begin to roll the fabric around it, turning and twisting the fabric strip in, towards the center of the flower, dabbing glue along the way to secure.
Keep rolling, turning and twisting and adding glue. When your flower is big enough, twist the fabric strip to the underneath of the fabric, trim off and glue to the flower base and make another one!
You’re going to want a BUNCH of flowers in various sizes. I had 2.5 inch wide flowers all the way down to a .75 inch flower.
Make the Wreath:
Once you’ve got lots and lots and lots of rolled flowers, it’s time to work on the wreath! There really isn’t a system or plan for this part… it’s basically just a giant puzzle. Stick flowers where ever you think they look best and glue them in place!
If you find there are tiny gaps where the wreath form is showing through, roll up a tiny bit of fabric and glue in place to cover.
Isn’t this Rolled Fabric Rose Farmhouse Wreath just the sweetest? It may be my favorite wreath DIY ever! And I’ve made quite a few wreaths in my 6+ years of blogging. I love the neutral colors, the contrast in fabric patterns and the overall texture.
It’s perfection!
And I am so in love with this Rolled Fabric Rose Farmhouse Wreath!
How often do you change the wreath on your front door?
