Handmade Love: Printcess

This post may contain affiliate or brand partner links. Read our full disclosure here.

Time for another edition of Handmade Love!! I always get so excited learning about a new  Handmade Business 🙂 It makes my heart happy to see other little Biz owners making a difference in the lives of their customers! And I’ll admit it… I love finding new goodies to add to my own home/life! Like these awesome handmade eye shadows from Beth!!

Tell us about how you got started…

It all started with me on unemployment, not making enough money to afford the sensitive-skin-friendly, cruelty-free mineral makeup I needed for job interviews. I also couldn’t find non-shimmer shades (again, for job interviews). What semi-affordable, shimmery mineral eyeshadow I did find resulted in horrible customer service experiences. Finally, I was frustrated enough to start researching making my own mineral makeup. When I’d saved up enough to buy some basics, I found that mixing colors was an incredibly fun hobby, which soon became a bit of an obsession, and eventually Printcess was born as a company!

What inspires your creative process? Why do you do what you do?

Every shadow I create is inspired by a book (usually a character, or a scene, though I name them after elements to have a broader appeal). That’s why I release them in collections- usually I’m reading a lot of one genre during the 3 months or so that i spend new colors. I love books, I love color, and I love playing with makeup, so it all works together.
As far as the actual process of creating new colors, it’s very trial-and-error. I have made some madcap guesses about the end result of a color and been at times horrifyingly wrong, and at times delightfully surprised. You just never know until you grind the pigment down, mix everything thoroughly, and dab some on.

At ONLY $4 per shadow, there is no reason not to stock up on every color! And believe me, they are GORGEOUS! I’ll be getting at least 5 or 6… as soon as the “Hubby was sick for 2 weeks and didn’t get a paycheck” spending freeze is over! 😀 Be sure to pop over to Beth’s Blog and shop and tell her I sent ya!

I don't normally wear make up, but this kind of makes me want to give it a try!
